Martinez: Everton players fear Goodison Crowd

Martinez you clown it's not the fans fault were crap it's yours, you've been found out that your a championship manager and that's where your taking us in the not so distant future.

I never boo any Everton player and abhor it, but people are massively and justifiably frustrated with bizarre decisions and an inability to be anything else but powder puff.

Picking Howard when he is clearly lost the very little he had is verging on cruelty and inability to keep a clean sheet which is bad preparation. This is a defence featuring Coleman, Jags and Baines that have been part of a defence that was one of the top in the league for many seasons under Moyes, Stones has been added who is 50 mill pound footballer - we should be better - not close to the worst in the league.

The frustration is knowing we have one of the best teams in the league - look at Spurs look at Leicester, we have failed, underperomed and missed a massive opportunity to push on.

I think this is a recipe for frustration, not that I condone booing.

I agree in principle mate. I'm not looking to blame the crowd, but I don't see it as Martinez blaming the crowd either. I think he's right in that if the team/fanbase may be just plays/watches with less fear, then the results will come.

I don't see that because the players still make mistakes with the crowd behind them. Stones was still step-overing his way out of trouble months prior and was applauded for example. Howard was cheered for pulling off a worldie save last season against Saints.

The fear comes from how we start games and the build up of mistakes that you see coming a mile away. This is down to the mentality and style the manager puts on them.

I'm lucky (?!) enough to have been a season ticket holder for 30 years. Today, coming out of the game, was the worst mood amongst the crowd since the Smith days. People could be overheard openly talking about heading for a relegation battle, and I mean multiple people, fans who I don't know, not in my matchgoing group.

The mood amongst the matchgoing fans at Goodison is ugly and justifiably so. People aren't happy; it's not just people on messageboards or twitter. People are utterly sick of the manager's stubbornness and loyalty to Howard and his absurd principles.

Look at some of you getting paranoid and precious over some comments which are not even attributable to the crowd!

We're a sensitive bunch aren't we? Maybe it touched a nerve for good reason.

Klopp recently came out with a direct criticism of the crowd at Anfield and it was taken by the majority of their fans to galvanise them.

Its QED that the crowd react to poor performances but also the Goodison crowd know when to step up and get right behind them. Like they will continue to do.

Ive not seen Martinez criticise that with these comments, but it's all about ME! Me me me culture. Come on we're miles better than Geordies or the scruffy Villa fans.

Oh, and by the way, the fans are 100% correct to boo what we're seeing right now. Absolutely correct. We have expectations and they're not being met.

If Martinez can't meet those expectations, then do one you clueless Spanish biff and we'll give another deserving manager a crack at meeting them, instead of moaning at the fans for having them.

I can't think of a better example of that than this post. How dare he not meet your expectations!

EEZ A DEESGRACE.

This is so bang on the money it's actually upsetting.

I have been a martinez fan and always tried to stick by him, but i have to admit i'm having doubts now, our record this season and last season is awful.

The fan base have had expectations since the club was formed. They adapt and change.

It's not about my expectations; the expectations are a general feeling of what the club should be achieving at this moment in time. We're not expecting league titles, but we're expecting better than this.

If you, as a fan, don't have expectations, then what is the point of supporting a football club? If you're "happy with whatever", then you aren't emotionally invested in what actually happens on the pitch, because there would be no difference between a win, loss or draw.

In short, what you just posted is pure guff.

I'm sure you could raid the vaults, but I have said this in the past.

I defended Martinez when it was labelled that he was stubborn at Wigan and wouldn't change. I said that the crowd at a bigger club would make it known if they didnt like it, something he never got at Wigan, and he'd have to change.

He hasn't.

He hasn't actually said "it's the fans fault"....he's intimated that the players are less nervous playing away. If you heard some of the absolute chuff spoken during the game around us in the Paddock today, irrespective of whether you like Martinez or not, you'd be embarrassed that some Evertonians knew so little about football. If I were a young up and coming player I'd hate playing in front of some of the whiffs at Goodsion. One absolute gobshite absolutely killed "Gerald" today right within earshot and he clearly heard it.

But, there's always some who want the petard to get tighter.
