Martinez: Everton players fear Goodison Crowd

To be fair, The bovril bellwhiffs (tend to be the older generation) who go the match just to moan at john stones and ross barkley all game do my head in just as much as martinez does.

I'm lucky (?!) enough to have been a season ticket holder for 30 years. Today, coming out of the game, was the worst mood amongst the crowd since the Smith days. People could be overheard openly talking about heading for a relegation battle, and I mean multiple people, fans who I don't know, not in my matchgoing group.

The mood amongst the matchgoing fans at Goodison is ugly and justifiably so. People aren't happy; it's not just people on messageboards or twitter. People are utterly sick of the manager's stubbornness and loyalty to Howard and his absurd principles.

That's the thing for me, sometimes you can read message boards and people say "it's only a small minority who have a go at Martinez". Yet it's blatantly obvious that a large portion of the home crowd are absolutely sick of the tripe getting spouted, the same mistakes getting made game after game and so on. This isn't a minor blip, our home form is an utter shambles under Martinez and the away form is only better in the sense that we get more draws than defeats.

I get that the supporters at the match are pissed off at what's going on and have every right to be. The thing is, though, as supporters there is almost nothing we can actually do to affect how good the club is. We can toss some money at merchandise and tickets and that probably helps a tiny little bit in terms of getting the transfer and wage budgets up (although it's completely dwarfed by the TV money), but other than that we can't really do much to help. So why would you give away the one tangible thing that we know can actually influence the results on the pitch? If it's going to influence the team negatively even the slightest bit, why do it?

Can't see where he's mentioned the crowd here, so a bit of a misleading article title. He's basically just doing that thing where he says something that's obviously bad but refuses to take the blame for it himself.

The fan base have had expectations since the club was formed. They adapt and change.

It's not about my expectations; the expectations are a general feeling of what the club should be achieving at this moment in time. We're not expecting league titles, but we're expecting better than this.

If you, as a fan, don't have expectations, then what is the point of supporting a football club? If you're "happy with whatever", then you aren't emotionally invested in what actually happens on the pitch, because there would be no difference between a win, loss or draw.

In short, what you just posted is pure guff.

There's the key word there though. Where exactly are you supporting? All you do on here is speak negatively about players like Lukaku and managers like Martinez. You're not actually a supporter at all.
