His biggest stroke of luck was playing Lukaku on the wing against Arsenal, he somehow scored a cracking goal.

If he hadn't, he would have been destroyed for playing our main striker on the wing.

I keep saying that Moyes defence was deeply flawed to be fair and I stand by that. they would always let you down when it mattered most but yeah I get what you mean.

No point getting fourth if you are going to crash out in the CL qualifiers and then get humilated by the third best team in Bucharest in the Europa Qualifiers though which sums us up in a nutshell really!

Football is weird though. I think its more than fair to say Moyes is/was a better manager than Martinez, however Martinez will always be more than likely to win something. Moyes will win nothing in his career I reckon, its just the way he is (Charity Shield does not count..)

I dunno, finishing 4th, and being the first to break the 'sky 4', being above Liverpool and being entered into the CL with a chance to meet the Barca's and the Madrids, to gain the vast sums of money 'proper' Europe offered against a backdrop of being one of the poorest spending clubs around, certainly felt like it had a point when it happened. One of the best seasons I have witnessed for Everton in a long long long time + the financial benefits of that season probably paid for a player on its own.

Getting knocked out before it started utterly sucked and getting a team as good as we did, and then getting the poor luck of 'that decision' is the sort of thing I was referring to previously about luck, but we were poor in that game and did not deserve to win.

Finishing with our highest league total and ending 5th felt no different to finishing 5th under Moyes on less points to me if I am honest.

Not sure Martinez will ever win a cup again, his defenses are just so awful, but agree with what you say that he has a better chance than Moyes of doing it. But I think Moyes would never of been close to that bottom half the last two seasons..

Didnt say they didnt.

Both losers at the end of the day.

One of my biggest gripes is when people say Moyes was a loser or he didn't win anything with Everton therefore he lost.

The man took us from relegation and probable bankruptcy, to finding gems each and every season whilst getting us to a couple of semi finals and a final plus regular European football.

So far we have spent a fortune recruiting walsh to do moyes gem finding, Koeman for million to basically be the dutch david moyes and bring stability and a stab at European football back to us, whilst spending £28m x2, £22m x1 and £11m on some kid who looks like he belongs in the R2-D2 droid suit as the perfect fit.

If Moyes had anything like this sort of money I am damn sure that he would of ended our drought by now.

Cannot believe the ungratefulness that is spewing from some people towards moyes.

I don't forgive him for the Baines, Fellaini saga but he had to behave like a superpower because he was employed by a club reflecting this sort of behaviour as the norm.

Can anyone say we have truly progressed since Moyes departure ? Maybe Moshiri's millions have helped but we are still repairing the damages form Martinez.

We should have sent Martinez the bill if the damages were directly down to him !!

The David Moyes team of 12/13 is probably the most consistently enjoyable Everton team I've watched on a week to week basis since Joe Royle's 95/96 side

Yes, there were some great matches in that 13/14 season, but consistently we played very well pretty much all season in 12/13. If Jelavic had just kept his form we probably would have done even better that season
