Martinez new Belgium head coach

It is a bit odd, I get involved far too much myself.

Funny thing is I dont have any strong feelings for Martinez one way or the other. It just rankles me when people say mad stuff like "HE RUINED OUR CLUB!" etc. He didnt, we are Everton for gods sake, no one manager can do that.
He didn't ruin the club. He was thankfully sacked before he had the chance to do that. No, he just set us back years.

Well why would they have any use for a first team development coach? It's not a club side!
I think you have more than just a manger, even at international level, mon ami. But apologies it's Graeme Jones & Bergara he took with him and has to pay from his salary.

Brendan Rodgers has won 2 trophies alone this season, would you say that Rodgers is a much better manager again? would you say managers like Redknapp, Di Mattaeo, Laudrup, Mcleish, to name a few a much better managers than Koeman?

Martinez achieved 72 points using the majority of a David Moyes Squad, and Koeman has got europe back using the majority of a Martinez squad. Except Martinez with his squad also finished bottom half finishes two years in a row, He recorded lowest home wins last season and the players literally stopped playing for him because his tactics were so damaging.

Compared to Ronald Koeman, a statistic which is interesting. Martinez won a combined total of 26 games in TWO seasons. Koeman has won 16 games (so far) in his first season. that i think is pretty damning considering last season he only got 10 wins, koeman managed to eclipse that and almost double it if we won our remaining games, still come close.

so what justification can you have of supporting our former manager to that extent when the stats put him in the bottom two of our worst ever managers in our history. The fact was the man that made going to Goodison a terrible experience, that alone should warrant no support from any fan let alone to defend him. And yes he did win an FA cup, but not with us, so why does it matter? Reading your posts over time, Koemans cup and league wins in his career seem to be dismissed as not 'successful' so why on earth does martinez's one trophy count in your argument?

Roberto Martinez is a manager that has managed to con his way into two top jobs despite destroying both clubs he has left. We were a shambles this summer compared to the largely 11 years under Moyes, and Wigan was destroyed enough that they haven't been able to group together.

Either way any manager of any team who makes going the game a bad experience warrants no support because of success before he came here. That is a small time mentality to have as a fan, top clubs don't settle for it but you are happy with what Martinez achieved at the club?

22 wins out of 75 matches in 2 seasons actually mate.

Stoke and West Brom are proper traditional clubs! They are not comparable at all!

I don't know if they will or wont, its highly unlikely that they will though.

Pulis would maybe have kept them up because as much as people hate to admit it Pulis is a top quality manager who is great at what he does. That doesn't mean anything though, they would still merely be existing.

Of course fans you know will be wanting top flight football, they got used to it.

I don't get what I am saying wrong here to be honest, it has got nothing to do with Martinez what I am saying either. It's just how it is. History is littered with clubs who do stuff like they did throughout the world and 9 times out of ten they end up going back down to their "level". It was going to happen regardless at some point.
They didn't need to go back to "their level" imo. Had they not been shackled with Martinez and had a proper manager who wanted to win rather then play pretty football they'd still be in the league.

How has destroyed two clubs? Which ones? The Swansea he picked up from obscurity and put them back on the map? A minnow club like Wigan he gave a trophy to and it'll be the first and last they ever win? The Everton team he had playing and winning record number of games with? The Belgian team he's yet to see defeat with in qualifying?

The same wigan who went into free fall once he left the club relegated to the championship? Doesn't matter they won the FA cup, i am sure the fan base would regulary have top flight football over winning a trophy especially as that trophy cost them top flight status. Everton winning a record number of games? The same everton losing a record number at home, or winning a record fewest at home? Very easy to spin it to sound better.

The best anyone could argue against Martinez is that he's failed to sustain the promise he brought to some of those jobs. But the heights he's hit along the way deserve respect, because they're something this current Everton manager couldn't ever do...not in a month of Sundays.

Which promise is this? Generally the opinion from what i remember was that martinez looked to be a manager who might be a decent prospect but at the same time just got relegated and had a history of thumping defeats, not to mention terrible transfer market record on the whole. for every good signing there was a bad one following it. either way there was zero excitement and most of us knew weeks in advance the easiest appointment was the spanish fella available down the road.

but can you answer me a question Dave? (assuming the name is dave k)

also assuming you are a match goer regularly, what were your personal thoughts last season when we kept getting beat? With our lowest wins at home, most defeats at home etc season, what did you genuinely think of it all? Considering the season before we got nowhere as well?

I assume he will say it's everyone's faults but not Martinez. Maybe it's Baines's fault maybe it's Jagielka's fault. He will then say record 72 points it's the holy grail Martinez is not a fraud babyface is, something like that.

Woeful is a bit over the top, but you clearly hate the man. Were aspects of what he did here woeful? Perhaps, but it's entirely over the top to refer to his time here in the bigger scheme of things as woeful.
I don't hate him personally. I don't even know him. I don't like him as a manager because I think he is poor at his job and hurt the club during his time here. You think only winning five home league matchs in a season and twelve In two doesn't warrant to be called woeful?! To each their own mate.

I don't think of flirting with CL footy, equaling our deepest European run since 1985, and a couple of deep cup runs as woeful, no. As I said perhaps parts of his time here were 'woeful' (ie the home form you mentioned), but in the bigger scheme his time here can not be described as a whole as woeful. It's just not factually correct.

Judging by the trend and results in the league matches, there is a good chance he will relegate this club if he is kept on. This season possibly. Look how poor were the home records last season. It's unbearable.

By parts of his time you mean two full seasons don't you? Because his second and third season were woeful. Reaching the last four of the league and FA Cup or the last sixteen of the Europa league doesnt make up for the appallingly bad home form which i stand by my orignal assessment of it as being woeful.
