I don't think of flirting with CL footy, equaling our deepest European run since 1985, and a couple of deep cup runs as woeful, no. As I said perhaps parts of his time here were 'woeful' (ie the home form you mentioned), but in the bigger scheme his time here can not be described as a whole as woeful. It's just not factually correct.

That was 1/3 of his time. 2/3 of his time at the club was the opposite.

By parts of his time you mean two full seasons don't you? Because his second and third season were woeful. Reaching the last four of the league and FA Cup or the last sixteen of the Europa league doesnt make up for the appallingly bad home form which i stand by my orignal assessment of it as being woeful.

Season 1: Hard to not call it excellent
Season 2: Deepest run in Europe in 30 years
Season 3: Two deep domestic cup runs.

Yes we were poor in the league...and our home form in the league was dreadful. Overall though, there were positives...it wasn't woeful as a whole. Disappointing? Yes.

Cup run is meaningless unless you win a cup. The league is the bread and butter. I think 2nd and 3rd seasons were woeful too like some other posters suggested.

I agree that there are some that are obsessed with making him out to be the devil incarnate. I just don't get it.

Hes been gone a year is it? And some are still crying that he ruined our club etc... Hes that bad a manager that in a season where he apparently ruined us he got us to two cup semi finals..

I'd rather get the semi finals than go out to Norwich n Leicester at home in the first couple of rounds

What did semi finals get you? Meaningless if you don't win a cup.

Season one: as good as 07-08 and not as good as 08-09 and defiantly not as good as 04-05. Congratulations Martinez on delivering Everton's joint third best Premier League campaign.
Season two: joint longest run in Europe since 84-85. It's tied with our run in 07-08 under Moyes when we didn't go out in embarrassing fashion.
Season three: worst home league record of five home wins which he'd out done the previous seasons total of seven. Reaching a semi final isn't an accomplishment at Everton. You don't win the cup, you don't get any credit.

The league campaign is the bulk of everyone's season and we were woeful in the league.

They didn't need to go back to "their level" imo. Had they not been shackled with Martinez and had a proper manager who wanted to win rather then play pretty football they'd still be in the league.

Well nobody "has" to but most of the time they will go back there.

Nobody knows if they would be there still or not but its hard to keep a club that size going in the top flight. Bournemouth will be the next one I reckon. The club as a whole over acheived massively.

I like a nice cup run and it put us in with a chance of getting the final... So you'd rather go out the Europa league qualification rounds than get the semis next season?
