Well the club really couldn't do much else at that stage. Billy Liar had given his buddy the Charlatan such an obsene contract on first joining and then compounded the stupidity by extending it after what Dave laughably called the "Camelot season" (still makes me laugh seeing that!) but everyone else saw as a fluke. Was worth every penny mind, just to be rid of El Coco.

None of that contradicts any point I made.
You continue to call a relatively young manager with an impressive record a 'fraud' and it makes no sense. It might give you a little rush of adrenaline and some release to state it, but it isn't true.
The current manager was a good player, but his managerial career has flatlined for over a decade and he is now, imo, underlining what a plodder he is.
These ^^^ are immutable truths as I see them.

You mean Swansea City who Martinez won the league one title with? He didn't start them on their road to success and he didn't build them up after league one, he derserted them for the "pub team" you talk about.

He walked into a club on its knees, which had been fed boring but stable Moyes football for years.
Blagged the players that we were going to play exciting football and become a force again. (Nothing wrong with that, all the top managers SAF and Mourinho get into their players heads)
The trouble was that he couldn't sustain it and the players stopped believing in him. It was downhill from there.
Then I think of some of his signings, Lakaku being the exception, Niasie FFS.
If he'd have walked away I'd have had some respect and probably remembered his good points, but when he kept denying the obvious and told us we were playing well when we were proper crap then I just lost all respect for him.
