yeah wed have been world beaters if them two had stayed fit!
Which ones? lol
I didn't know about that but, yes, it all makes sense now.

There were a few others who undermined 'El Gaffer' as well, including our former Head of Medicine who left after several bust ups with 'I'm a qualified physio' Martinez about players' fitness. He then set up his own gym where some of our players used to sneak off to, Baines being one of them, where they probably spent their time hatching new plots against 'El Gaffer'. No wonder we were so unfit!

And guess what? That former head of Medicine is now back working for Everton!
You learn something every day.

How dare Baines want to go and train with someone who knows what he's doing. The swine.

Dave he had the best set of players we'd had in donkeys and managed to take us backwards. This is a stone cold fact.

He's had arguably the best set of individual players in the world in the Belgian national squad for the last couple years and has done nothing of note with them either.

I do like him as a fella.. but he just isn't a very good manager all said and done. He would absolutely bomb very quickly at Real.

Also, whilst we're making comparisons, Poch is clearly the far superior manager.

Unfair on Martinez who gave us, in my opinion, the best season since 1995. Nearly got into the Champions League long before money came into the club.

Done nothing of note with Belgium? Had them as genuine contenders for the first time for the world cup and got them to 3rd place. Their best ever performance at a tournament?

Pochettino is a very good manager - but Martinez has won more than he has.

For me its a close call between the two.

He would suit madrid.. basically talk the talk and sit back and watch ramos manage them on the pitch

That dressing room sorts its self its why they didnt like benitez or mourinho or wouldnt like conte

Its not a stone cold fact that he had the best set of players! We didn't even have a serviceable striker when he arrived and we improved when McCarthy and Barry were brought in, he signed both of them.

He has had one competition at international level and came third. What else are you expecting? Other than winning it there is nothing else he could do of note!

As mentioned above, what has Pochettino won? He has had the best set of players spurs have had in donkeys....etc etc.

Martinez ultimately failed at Goodison. This does not make him a bad manager as much as any other manager failing at any another club.

Exactly. Martinez inherited Moyes' Dad's Army...a group of players not even used to controlling and passing the =ball. He had to teach those players the game again.

To get our best ever PL season in terms of points and wins on the basis of that was remarkable.

Of course, a gaggle of Martinez critics posting on a forum know more about the game than the Belgian FA and the world's biggest and most successful football club. How could anyone argue with their POV? It's bound to be more informed. :coffee:

Martinez going to Real Madrid places him fairly and squarely in the pantheon of the world's greatest managers. Capt Jags and Bainesy should hang their treasonous heads in abject shame.
