Martinez new Belgium head coach

His football took us out of the Dark Ages. If we fell away we fell away to a position where the vast majority felt that they wanted shut of Martinez but not a return to the anti-football period. They wanted a Martinez who can organise a defence...which is why there's a lot of hope surrounding this Silva appointment.
Yeah but the fact he couldn’t organise a defence was a massive back step.

It’s no good having all the ingredients and not knowing how to use them.

Bainsey blotted his copybook by conspiring, (in cahoots with Capt Jags), against Bobby. Roscoe's fall from grace was a completely different affair...he goosed a Merseyside gangsta's kopite supporting ma and was 'ordered' to get out of town. If Bobby hadn't been sacked by the carpet-bagger, I suspect things might have gone differently. Blue Bill bears a lot of guilt as well.
Bobby was phenomenal; he had us playing like a team from Camelot...

The system was sound: look at Belgium's record breaking number of wins and record number of goals scored/not conceded. The human material was not up to the required standard to evolve to something better at Everton.

Now that was also a fault of Roberto's in trusting those limited players to evolve and get better, although a hefty chunk of blame goes also to the club and its meagre squad investment. If Martinez had Koeman's warchest he'd have faired a lot better in seasons 2 and 3, that's for sure, because the players would have been superior and open to instruction and carrying out that instruction.

Call me old fashioned, but isnt that his actual job?
It was his job to add another dimension to their games. When he came here they were footballers who weren't allowed to get on the ball and play to feet for the most part. Quite obvioulsy Martinez developed them into players who could and would play to feet. What he couldn't do was turn a series of sows ears into purses.

Ok.

Pep has clearly and markedly improved sterling and several other players in the squad , pochettino seems to have done it with spurs and even in a short time silva certainly looks to be getting more out of Keane for example . Most of the more successful managers in the league seem to have been able to improve the quality of players already within their squad .

If there was one thread I could banish from GOT it would be this one. The only no mark is Bobby Brown Shoes himself. Useless manager.
And THAT ^^^ is why the thread gains so much traction: bitter and irrational outbursts concerning a manager who quite obviously is not "a uselss manager". And THA, in turn, is also the weakness of those who attack him: it lacks nuance and analysis and anything like an ability to accept pros and cons. It's why it's relatively easy for me to bat most of it away as caricature and cluelessness.
