Martinez new Belgium head coach

But he learned from his mistakes, called in his senior players to find out what went wrong towards the end of that season and sorted it out. He learned his lessons; Roberto, unfortunately, never did.

I think Martinez realised how much the club needed a trophy and targeted that in his last season, hence the 2 semifinals.

I still think if the fans had stuck with him and hadn’t turned, he’d have won us the FA cup that season.

That 2004/05 season was a fluke occurrence. 61 points is as low as you could possibly get to get top four.

Yes, better to get the league position than the points total, but one invariably comes with the other. Martinez proved he could get the very most out of the players Moyes largely left and it was a pity they couldn't kick on...or he wasn't handed the cash Koeman had to kick on without them.

Liverpool/Benitez focussed on the CL that year from about February onward.

You can fluke a cup win by winning a couple of League 1 sides before having Citch in the final.

You can’t fluke through 38 games and got 4th with an Ale squad.

The new favourite for the Celtic job is none other than 'Our Bobby.'

Be ideal for him: guaranteed silverware, in charge of a big fish in a miniscule pond plus Champions League where getting them out of the group stage would be hailed by his acolyte(s) as a greater achievement than Ranieri winning the league with Leicester..

Please make it so.

A nice easy job at Belgium with an absolute elite squad of players to an easy quadruple x50 in Scotland, How did he get so lucky.

As if Roberto would go to that league.

FFS, the clutching at straws from the army of defeated critics is getting more and more lame.

He proved you wrong lads.

  • Short-listed FIFA coach of the year
  • Took Belgium to the WC SFs
  • Got Belgium to world ranked number one international team
  • Overseen Belgium's best ever run of results in their 113 year history
The war ended last summer, but you lot are still hiding out in the jungle like Japanese soldiers in 1950 thinking it's still raging.

Lol.

Cue @davek telling us in 3 years about how Roberto "dragged Celtic from out of the shadow of Slippy's Rangers to historic league & cup doubles/trebles"...

Yes, and you've got to bear in mind that the cunning Roberto has never yet inherited a struggling team, inheriting already successful teams (by their standards) at Swansea, Wigan and even us in the Premier League era. I wouldn't bet on him leaving his comfy part-time job at Belgium, where he fills his spare time by flogging mineral water, but he'll certainly be on the look out for this type of job sometime in the future. There's just a chance he might decide the time is right.

Bobby's comfy in his Belgian sinecure, but the public ear is not at his disposal. His wham goes un-chatted. This must be gutting for him, can see him taking the reins at Celtic (if ever a job was made for a man...) to get back behind a microphone every Saturday.

I love all that above.

The detailed stories about Martienz taking the soft option of the Celtic job...when he's not going there and still the most successful ever manager of Belgium.

Keep telling yourselves fairy stories lads. It must be a comfort for you.

He's too young to be stuck in the graveyard of international football so will no doubt be looking for a club job soon. He'll never manage a club the size of us again so Celtic would be about the best he can hope for. YNWA followed by 25 minutes of passing the ball round the back against St Mirren. What more could Celtic fans want.

Dave, you forgot to add it's an exclusive on a Mickey mouse website.
