Martinez new Belgium head coach

Give Roberto top players and he'll do the business. Give him Jagielka and Baines and Naismith and Hibbert etc etc and even he cant get more than 1 season out of them.

Roberto: linked with top jobs in world football; his lame detractors posting smilies to hide their embarrrassment at being proven utterly wrong.
All those players did fine under Moyes. Funny, that.

Except Hibbert, who sucks balls.
Martinez is the best manager you've ever had.
Who is Howard Kendall, we just don't know.

In 3 seasons

Achieved 2 x 11th placed finishes

Worst home record since the 1930’s

Lost both semi finals

Lost the whole dressing room and inflicted some of the most embarrassing defeats in the history of the club, including successive 4-0 defeats at the neighbors, Sunderland away 3-0, Leicester away 4-1 etc etc.

After his great first season upon inheriting and adding to Moyes already established top 6 side, he turned us into mid table mediocrity.

I suppose it’s all about opinions, but everything I have just written is 100% factual, whereas some of yours is just based on your opinion, which is known to be a bit flakey at the best of times.
Lol.

Clueless.

Belgium and now Barcelona rate his ability, but "Thomasc" off GOT says their wrong.

You couldn't make this stuff up.

People are desperate to be right. It's weird.

I actually think he did fail at Everton in the end personally, but that doesn't make him a bad manager, all managers mess up at some point. A poor season and a half at us shouldn't mark his cards for life. Some people just can't let go of it though.

Stop chatting wham and trying to be highbrow, it doesn’t work for you.

I will spell it out again for you as I know you find it difficult.

Everything I wrote above is 100% factual.

The fact he blagged the Belgium job and is international football already at his age says it all.

The chances of him being Barca boss are slim to none. It’s lazy journalism as well and you know it.

They need a new manager, he’s Spanish, that’s about the link.

He can show them videos of his 9-1 defeat at Spurs if he gets to interview stage :)

He proved what he could do here in his first 18 months and the vast majority of fans recognised at that time he had great talent...then the majority of those fans conveniently forgot that fact.

Everyone should just accept and recognise he is a very good football coach and has had success of sorts all his professional life as a manager and move on. They wont though, because they've painted themselves into a corner and cant move from away from it.

It's painful to watch, tbh. Still, they've chosen to do that and they've only themselves to blame.

I would like to think that the powers that be at Barcelona would realize that the players at Wigan and the players at Barcelona are not the same.

I don't think he will get the job either but he is more highly regarded elsewhere than he is by the majority of our fans.

He looked like he was going to be a very good manager, he said the right things, but then it ended there.

Try and remember just how bad our pointless and turgid football was for 2 season which resulted in two eleventh place finishes. He took us backwards, that is undeniable.

However he is young and had a chance to rebuild his reputation.

Ranieri could be classed as a journeyman these days but won a title with Leicester.

The right man at the right time can get results, the best maintain it though.

"Blagged the Belgium job".

Ha Ha Ha Ha.

Sorry, didn't read the rest after that.

I don't have to remember, I already said he failed at Everton! Lost the dressing room, lost the fans, once that happens it is curtains for anybody.

It can also happen to any manager.

11th place doesn't really mean that much to me, its mid table crap like we have been for 20 odd years.

Sure the best do maintain the results but its harder and harder to do that these days as managers get sacked at the drop of a hat.

Personally I think he would do well at a club like Barcelona.

Anybody could do well with the right players for a bit, he’d come in, spout a few media friendly sound bites and get everyone on his side to begin with. It’s got to have some substance though and he’s hardly a Simeone is he? I’m pretty sure he’d get found out quickly in the CL, which is pretty much what’s happened to the current manager.

But he may very well have improved since his time with us.

To be fair he ticks a lot of boxes for them.

I think he'll do well initially - his approach will inflate the egos there.

Which boxes does he tick apart from being Spanish? He’s won an FA cup and been relegated. Those to date are his most notable achievements.

He also failed to get to the World Cup final with the best squad in the tournament.
