Martinez new Belgium head coach

Winning that trophy would mean everything to us.

Utterly guffawing at any Evertonian who in desperation attempts to diminish Martinez for winning a trophy we're desperate to win.

The game is lost at that stage for you. Just give it up and accept you and your fellow travellers got it completely wrong over Martinez....the feller who's virtues you were extolling as Bobby Brown Shoes and thanking for re-opening the School of Science.
It would be awesome. And we would also still be competing for 7th the next season. I want to win a cup bad but I can't fault managers for prioritizing the league. That's where the game is now.

1 - who mentioned about Swansea PL promotion?
2 - who mentioned anything other than handing Wigan their world cup?
3 - No, we agreed nothing of the sort. A 61 point season is a fluke to get CL qualifier on. Football-wise and points-wise 2013/14 was our best PL season by far
4 - Southgate was, but he played hoofball and therefore it doesn't count..as well as being Southgate..which will automatically disqualify him
5/6/7 He is far and away their best manager Belgium have ever had.

This is beyond embarrassing now for the refuseniks.
Just like the 72 point season then.

?
Can you make your mind up please mate?

You cant fluke a season. Never to be bettered by Everton for another decade...unfortunately. The standard is set though.

You can and he did.

He took Moyes team, then with a couple of smart additions had a great season. It was clearly a fluke though, as his 2 x 11th placed finishes in the 2 seasons that followed proved, a position we haven't finished so low as since his departure.

So to summarise, 1 good season in 3.

Also Moyes got us our best PL ever finish with a 4th.

Also, best Belgian team ever and failed.

Also, you are a busted flush on this topic.

The confusion lies with you alone; a 61 point season that gets a 4th place spot in this league is a fluke. In and of itself 61 points is a target I expect Everton to sail past next season. Even Moyes broke that mark, and he's 'kin rubbish.

38 game season. You cant fluke that.

Moyes = utter dullard who's proven how dire he is beyond doubt since leaving.

Belgium's best ever team because Martinez has them playing as a team rather than a rag bag of football divas they always were.

do we have to keep going over old ground David?

"It was clearly a fluke though, as his 2 x 11th placed finishes in the 2 seasons that followed proved, a position we haven't finished so low as since his departure."

His last 5 seasons as a manager in the premier league reads as follows -
15th
Relegated
5th
11th
11th

it's not hard to suss out which was the freak season for christ's sake lol

Edit: as dull as you claim Moyes to be - he had 3 x 5th placed finishes which apparently is your yardstick for success.

Martinez's points totals at Everton. Let's play spot the fluke season.
72
47
47
That's not remotely the same argument.

That sequence merely shows (and from a tiny number) that one season is the "odd one out".

The cast iron point stands though: 38 games you cant fluke. The league programme is long enough to weed out flattering starts and promising mid-seasons. 21 wins in one season...as said: never to be bettered by us in the next decade. The last five seasons since underline that.

So can managers not improve and change then?

You are talking about seasons from ages ago now with Wigan. His record with Wigan was fine, going down with them was going to happen eventually (it will happen with the likes of Bournemouth eventually too) the FA Cup was the cherry on the top for them. A great day for them regardless.

So he failed with us in the end. So what? We saw what he could be but then it didn't work out, happens all the time (especially with us). It doesn't make him a bad manager he just failed here.

We're not going backwards and forwards with this all night mate. You're just wrong.
I'll bid you a fond farewell.
Goodnight.

Of course they can improve, especially when as young as he is.

You can argue the toss either way over Martinez as far as I am concerned. I for one was very impressed with him after his first season and didn't actually start calling for his head until the 3rd season when it was clear he was just spouting crap and we were going backwards and at that point looked a very bad manager.

As of yet though, he still has to prove he is a good manager. Stevie Wonder could manage this Belgium side to the latter stages of a tournament.

What I will debate though and put a counter response to is all this, "72 point best ever PL season" garbage. Our best season was 4th under Moyes, who also gained 3 x 5th place finishes which Martinez managed to equal once.
