He hasn't. That's a fact

He did in net, which was where the conversation started.

You can look at various figures. We pay smaller wages than villa and less agent fees and our squad cost less to assemble (mostly cos they have loads of aging stars like Darren Bent who they don't play but cost loads originally).

But no in gross Lambert spent less. In net more because we've been selling more players who people actually want and will pay for which is both a plus and a minus.

The point is martinez has not recieved more funds than most of the managers around us in the league.

It's unfair to argue that he has.

Although this season has been disappointing in the league- last season and the performances in Europe this year mean for me that he desreves the chance to have this transitional season. I believe he is a good manager and talks with class and dignity about our great club.

We have dinked some good teams in Europe this season and although people are saying with certainty that we wont win it- if we do get through the next round and again a decent draw in the quarters then who knows. We beat Wolfsburg comprehensively and they are the joint favourites.

We'll be lucky to get to 39 this season. With the squad we have, that's horrific. Perhaps it is the same as Moyes' first three seasons, new manager bounce, massive dip, then huge over achievement, but I doubt it. That was a relegation threatened squad that was easily at home in the bottom half of the table. Not a top 6 squad with some great players in every position.

Last night was the first time I have seen real fear in Martinez's eyes. When he came out for the second half he looked like a rabbit in the headlights- he looked petrified.

The thing that is getting me is the balance- last season we looked very balanced and threatening from out wide and through the centre with the three central midfielders one true winger and then Naismith it just looks like no one knows where they should be or what they should be doing.

The shape we had last season that served us so well hasnt really been used- the full backs are stifled on one side every game because they dont have a winger to work with to get forward and break.

Cannot for the life of me work out why we dont play like we did last season:

Coleman Stones Jags Baines
McCarthy Barry/Gibson
Mirallas Barkley/Naismith Lennon/Atsu/McGeady
Lukaku

The players there are then playing in the positions they know and provides balance- rather than this skewiff thing we've done the last few games. Round pegs in round holes.

After saying all this I still believe in him. We have battered good teams in Europe and although my belief in us winning it is dwindling I still have a hope we will hit some kind of form and put a run together but it needs to bloody well happen soon!
