From his start at the club don't be too surprised if he is getting first team game time before the season is out. He's impressing a lot of people. Some signing this, on the back of Galloway and Stones. Three good centre halves as we will have seen.
We do have some good youngsters and things are looking good but according to some pundits not many youngsters will sign for us now because they will look at how we refused to let Stones move on to bigger and better things. :D

don't believe it .. most well informed people within the game still consider Everton to be one of the better clubs for a youngster to join. The Stones Saga will soon be yesterday's news, if not already especially for your average dopey pundit.

I think youngsters will still sign because we - as shown with Galloway, Browning & Stones - give them plenty of chances to play for the first team. I think a lot of young players (the good ones anyway) will appreciate that rather than rotting away in the reserves until they're 25.

Sounds promising.

Good to know.

And there is a gulf as wide as the Atlantic Ocean between the "well informed people in the game" and the "pundits" we see on TV and hear on radio ;)

Holgate, for it is his thread, played at right back for England U20 s against Czech Republic yesterday , they won 5-0. It would be good to see him playing at Centre half at this level , but this was his first call up for England I believe so they'll have wanted to get a look at him. My first view of Stones was playing right back for England, u19s Ithink ,and that worked out ok.

I really rate Holgate based on what I've seen of him (in the flesh) and believe he will go on to great things. He's very much in the same mould as Stones in that he's confident and very capable with ball at feet .. my only concern regards the step up to CB at PL level is his lack of height and size in general required for a CB. Granted he may have time to grow a bit more, it certainly wouldn't do his chances of making it as a CB any harm, otherwise world class RB it is.

Pundits in the main are idiots, they spout crap out so they appear to be in touch with the footballing world

I would love to hear what someone like Nathaniel Chalobah or Nathan Ake or even further back Josh McCreachen and Jack Cork would like to of done if they could go back to being and 18 year old on Chelsea's books.
All great prospects and all had undoubted quality and all have or had stalled due to getting loaned out every year to a new team and not getting a sniff of the first team

All proper footballers too, i've no interest in center backs who can't throw a feint and skin a striker then stroll out withthe ball
