Wouldn’t argue that he is a decent player.
But that’s about it , nothing exceptional, just decent.
In fact he’s the type of player we’ve seen passing through Goodison without leaving a discernible mark of achievement for way too many years now.

Considering the fact that last season we had
6 attackers play 20+ games for us and only score 25 goals between them all, with Richy taking 10 by himself, might show that this squad could do with a “decent” player like Cornet.

This is exactly what I’m talking about. Why does he have to be “exceptional”? We’re a poor side with poor players, if we’re being realistic we need be a decent side before we can be an exceptional side to use your words. It’s bad that I look at this squad and yearn for the days of Kevin Mirallas and Gerard Deulofeu, never mind some actual top class players.

We need to improve the squad desperately, Cornet does that. We are not going to side any incredibly great player this window, at least not permanently. What we will do is sign decent players to make us a decent side though.

Just need to sign Bertrand Traore from villa, Aouar, Depay and Ndombele and we’ve pretty much then got half the Lyon side which beat us in 2017

I would imagine he doubled his pay and got to use Burnley as a stepping stone by being on stage in the biggest league in the world.

Covers About 5 positions, incredible versatility.

When he signed for Burnley, he pointed to the Umbro sign thinking it was their club crest! lol

He didn’t want to sign for Burnley, he wanted to go to Hertha Berlin, but Burnley gazumped them.

Was part of the Lyon team that got to CL semi final the season before he signed for Burnley.

If you applied this logic to every player that has ever signed for a lower ranked club it wouldn't get you far.

Why did Bissouma join Brighton if he was so good? Why was Vardy playing lower league football for so long if he was so good? Why was Ivan Toney in the championship for so long if he was any good?

Footballers' careers are full of peaks and troughs. It proves nothing.

I mean, he's a player with a decent goal return that was playing for a team that would be up if it could find the net, and he's in the bargain bin by current standards.

This doesn't seem like a hard call to me. We need improvement all over the pitch. Sign him up.
