McCarthy to replace Fellaini?

Nobody in their right mind would spend even a second arguing about anything with a sample size of two games (for Felli). (I do agree that some of Fellaini's stats we spoke about would improve with a whole season at CM but it's way too early to lock in wherever they stand now.)

Anyway as for overall rating and positional changes that's all well and good but the original point was "Fellaini's stats are vastly superior to McCarthy in every respect. His passing accuracy, his number of total passes ... pick anyone you like & Fellaini smashes him into the dust."

That simple wasn't true (unless you meant from the first two games this year -- in which case you can see the confusion because that's kind of silly).

Regardless just because people say something positive about McCarthy does not mean we think he's better than Fellaini. The only point some of us are trying to make is that McCarthy is not by any stretch a bad player and he does some things better than Fellaini.

Fellaini is a better all-round player -- don't think anyone has argued otherwise -- but just because we don't want to replace Fellaini with McCarthy doesn't mean we have to make stuff up and act like McCarthy does nothing but trip over the touch-line and lie face-down on the pitch motionless for 90 minutes.

What are they like?
 
Gibson next to McCarthy just isn't creative enough IMO. At least Fellaini breaks forward even in a DM role. Do like McCarthy but definitely not a replacement for Felli and anything over 9m would be criminal.

James is a replacement for Gibson as he is always injured, if we sell fellaini then we need two more cm.
