McCarthy to replace Fellaini?

Added to the fact we need someone to drop in to take the ball off of our fairly pedestrian central defenders.

Aye, although that's negated when he plays the five at the back which I reckon we'll get a run out of by Chelsea at latest.

Based on what I've seen, I'd be looking around before shoeing that amount of money on a player like McCarthy.

::sigh:: ... he's clearly wrong ... we all know he's wrong ... why do I have to show my work? Fine ... hold on. (Also I didn't provide "nothing" there was a quote from Bong.)

Go here: http://www.whoscored.com/Regions/25...erStatistics/England-Premier-League-2012-2013 ... sort by pass accuracy ... McCarthy 36th ... Fellaini 156th. More to follow.

lol, that link has Fellaini as 7th in the passing league compared to McCarthy's 130th, well done for 'dis-proving' my comment lid

This has been far too sensible a discussion for my liking.
But if we do offload Fellaini, McCarthy at 10m wouldn't be a disaster, if we added another in there alongside.

That's a point I suppose, that Fellaini would bring in probably two players. We'd miss him terribly though, I see it as a backwards move unless we sign someone with as much potential as he had/has.

It's nice when not having a history of injuries is a strength.

Go back and try again. If you actually go to the passing tab and sort by success% then McCarthy and Felli are ranked exactly how he said they were. And not even close to how you put it. (Not to say that pass accuracy is the measure of a player).

Yeah but if as I said earlier in the thread, we spread the talent out a bit, it could work out well for us. Get a player of similar ability and potential as McCarthy then I think we have adequately replaced him. It means Osman is used as he should, a sub, and we have a strong unit in the middle of the park of good young players and Gibson to slot in if and when he is fit.

Were gonna lose Fellaini's ability to win us games either through dominating the middle or scoring valuable headed goals. Never mind the option to lash him up front if were chasing games.

My concern with Fellaini is that he doesn't do this often enough.

If we move away for a second from the comparision of McCarthy/Fellaini I think that the general consensus of Everton fans that they would stomach the sale of Fellaini more than the sale of Baines is important.

Two seasons ago I thought Fellaini was going to turn into a truly world class player. He has all the attributes, size ,strength, skill, scores goals, a bit of a midfield steel when needed. But he hasn't progressed in that time,we see glimpses of the player he could be,but not enough.
He doesn't dominate games,he should at this stage have the game revolving around him. I don't know why he hasn't moved on,but he hasn't. Maybe a move would help him although I feel that he might slow down a Utd midfield that has always operated at a breakneck pace.
He has acted in a professional way since RM has come to the club, but it is clear that Gibson is the main man for Martinez and not Fellaini. We don't know what wishes have been expressed by Fellaini and his agent. But,I cannot help but feel that maybe Fellaini thinks his carrer would be better served at a bigger club...and I would love to see McCarthy come in his stead.

Yeah but if you speed us up in the middle of the park it could be that we have more of the guilt edged chances we really have been missing in games. I like Fellaini loads and he offers us an awful lot to the point of being almost unique but it could be that him leaving is a catalyst to better football for us. It could also be a disaster, like, but the manager can't be expected to put his mark on the team if he has no way of adding substantially to it.

True enough, I'm of the mind that we'll lose some of our oof in the process and that oof wins us games. I'm usually wrong like.
