The anonymous 17.
As is their right.

I'm a cheese on toaster myself.

It is what it is. This country can't even work itself up into a frenzy over years and years of Tory rule, we're nowhere near a revolution to topple the monarchy, no point getting worked up over them.

As for @4737carlin point about Kopites, he's spot on. Loads of them are just bots who do as their told. If that means booing an anthem without knowing why, it doesn't matter. They'll do it.

Loads of their overseas fans identify (for want of a better word) as 'scousers' because they understand what it means, apparently.

You won't find a weirder bunch anywhere.

I keep seeing this line being posted online by people (with different wording obviously).

I think people are getting not being bothered confused with being a poor language removed...

I have not really seen an awful lot of bad comments about the Queen's passing. One or two of course but nothing major. Not being bothered about her passing is not the same thing.

Also it's hard to tell if they are nice or not. They are not normal people. Nobody will see the real person behind the act, good or bad.

Agree, but I was not talking about just overly abusive comments. I also wasn't referring to 'not bothered', as I am more in this camp than 'bothered'. I have seen, in regards to negativity, comments about the country's past, which has nothing to do with this one monarch. My point is, that people should just look past history and what her ancestors had done (and in some cases not even ancestors) and look at the person, see below for my opinion on that.

I also added 'seemingly', for the reasons you stated. I didn't know her personally but there has been a level of sincere sentiment that she was a nice lady, I am generally called a nice guy but I have been known to be a bit of an arsehole from time to time. Not everybody sees all sides of everybody and especially when you have never met them, however, I am sensing sincere comments from those that have actually met her.

And the monarchy is integral to the structure of an elitist power structure that is neither elected nor accountable. The belief that they are merely symbolic with no power is akin to the greatest trick the devil ever pulled. No organisation that has hoovered up so much wealth directly from the serfs over hundreds of years is powerless.e
It's laughable when people say that the monarchy is just symbolic and that they have no power or influence on the way the nation is governed.
Worryingly, Charles has always been the biggest Royal culprit at 'interfering.'
He has a history of using his connections/influence to put pressure on Government Ministers and Civil Servants for causes that he feels strongly about (and those that benefit him financially)
If anybody truly believes that his connections and lobbying carry no weight then they are deluded.

Exactly this!

The lobbying industry is worth millions and in recent years there's been a huge effort to make it all transparent.

But here we have a bigoted elitist man who has unlimited access and power - all behind closed doors.

It stinks?

Worked out well the last time didn't it? I live in Warrington, a town that has a strange affection for Oliver Cromwell reportedly because he allegedly spent one night in the town during the Civil War.

All Dictators start off as genuinely benevolent, but most of them don't stay like that once they get used to the trappings of power. At least with our monarchy we know that in reality they are only symbolic with no power over us. If it aint bust don't fix it.

I live in Kilkenny, a beautiful small city, with lots of heritage. Mr Cromwell arrived and proceeded to use St Canice's Cathedral to stable his horses, and had all of the wonderful stained glass and statuary smashed. He also reduced the population of the city somewhat but nowhere near as much as his tours of Drogheda and Wexford.

Still, I suppose he deserves a statue right outside the Houses of Parliament in recognition of his great achievements. :hayee:

I am not a monarchist, but believe in democratic republicanism (note small 'r'). I loathe the faults that are in republican democracies - corruption, nepotism, economy of truth-telling etc - but I still prefer it to a system where one is head of a state because of the circumstances of one's birth.

However, I respect the will of the people of the UK as to their preferred form of Government, whatever that may be.

Loads of them boo then head back to Cheshire and vote Tory. Football is a pantomime - to a large extent it should be. Faux hatred, booing, and whatnot.

I'm asking him to explain why he's a monarchist and I'm getting back that he is so because of Liverpool supporters...which is no explanation at all.

It's fair enough if he doesn't want to elaborate why he's a monarchist, just say that and dont hide behind Liverpool.
