Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

The tube wasn't working, so I took a series of buses to get from NW London to Victoria in central London. I eventually got to work about 11-ish and there were literally only half a dozen of us there in a department of 70 people.

We spent an hour talking about our journeys, then went to the pub for a couple of hours or so, then headed home.

All in a day's work.
In 1987 I worked in Croydon. The journey from Maidenhead was exactly 50 miles. It took me about 3 hours to get to Croydon by car (left home at 6 am). Kept having to change routes because of fallen trees. There were about 5 people in the office out of about 60 or 80. Most of whom lived locally. My boss phoned from London and asked how many staff were in and he was not impressed when I told him. He didn't say 'well done' to me though!

Barn and bairn for child I think in
and bra meaning good in Swedish sounds like the Scots word braw meaning good although lots of words get passed through so many languages you can’t always be sure. The Kirk and church link is definite though as you said. ?
There is a dish served in Northern Finland called skaas or something like that as I haven't seen it written and it is like Scouse used to be ,it was researched by a linguist friend -who spoke 13 languages but only 9 over the phone -who believed it to be a Finnish traditional dish but found out it was brought over by sailors from the UK.She couldn't be more specific but given that scouse exists by other names in the UK it is a fair bet it came from Liverpool over to here .

We had a storm here a few years ago and it left us without electricity for six days ,the rest of the village was back on line in two but as we were the only ones with the cable detached from the house it was a matter of priorities and an old Scouser is way down the list . Luckily my wife is into all the is Finnish and had had me make an outside loo and in our sauna was a water boiler that was wood fired .We kept the freezer shut and borrowed a generator after the two days as our neighbour could spare it then .Lots of candles and it ws fine .

Morning Messy and Everyone.

Very cold night but suprisingly no frost. Winds dropped but sleet and snow forecast for today.

I hope you are feeling ok Messy and able to follow today's match.

I fear that it may not bring you a great deal of cheer , personally I can't see where the next goal let alone point is coming from.

Lots of talk of cashing in on Pickford and allowing us to sign a couple of players in January , to be honest I haven't got a clue what our strategy is but can't see us holding on to the few decent players that we have come the summer.

Not great news on the pandemic either so I really need to think of something good and positive to say.

Well , we did have builders in over the summer and had a new extension built . Bit of a nightmare living with the mess , noise and disruption but ,,,,,and here's the good news ....they've finished and not only have we got our house and privacy back but they did a fine job , well what I really mean is that it withstood the storm in 1 piece.

So , off to do some Yoga this morning and then big fire this afternoon and guess I will have to watch the game , albeit from behind the sofa. COYB!!!

Hope to see a short message from you Messy telling us that you are ok.

Well I think today could be a big one
I woke up feeling chilly and a bit nervous about Brentford

Morning Messy, Fred and all. Bright but cold here this morning, still a bit breezy but thankfully nowhere near as bad as yesterday. Our fence is still standing which is a surprise, off out now to retrieve some pots which have blown into the pond. How did the ITV 7 go @Barnfred 55? Have a good morning all, I think our afternoon may be a bit stressfu. Thinking of you Messy and wishing you well.?

Breakfast sounds fantastic.
Last holiday before the pandemic we toured Northern India and into the Himalayas ( Shimla and beyond ) and regularly had curry for breakfast. Delicious . Have a great day!

Good morning Messy, Fred and gang, hope you are all well waking up to a cold match day, we've had snow on the hills the last week, however we are covered with a smattering this morning.
@fandjango I used to work nightshifts and would often come home in the morning to the remnants of a family takeaway and have a breakfast of pakora followed by a curry or a kebab, certainly used to sleep well after it. Sag also is certainly a nice dish I hope you enjoyed it.
Enjoy the game everyone a win will do nicely, a full match report please Messy.

Good morning everybody and especially @messymascot . Hope you can catch the match today. The wind has dropped, we've had snow but the roads look OK. I really need to go food shopping. However a more traditional breakfast for me - bacon butties. There is nothing better than left over Chinese/Indian for breakfast! Have a good day everybody and hopefully a big win later.
