Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

What a thread Karl created. Having gone from never having met or spoke to each other I feel that we now know each other so well .
We comfort each other , we share diverse stories , see photos of places we've never been , we have a laugh and we moan about Everton.
Some of us have even now met and spent holiday time together.
It is genuinely a remarkable feat that Karl achieved. I'm sure that he would , justifiably, be very proud.
Please keep doing what you are doing everyone.
Couldn’t agree more.

@anjelikaferrett
If you haven't already seen it you would love 'Nature of the beast'
You would also love 'The big meeting' Both documentaries were made by 'Shut Out The Light Productions' from Liverpool and are available via their website. Well worth watching.
I saw The Big Meeting in The Odeon in town with about half a dozen other people there , I was surprised it didn’t have wider distribution. I’d like to go to one year.

Thanks I'll definitely watch those. I've been to The Big Meeting many times. It's a special occasion, a real piece of social history. It's quite emotional seeing the pit banners being paraded while the colliery bands play. Dennis Skinner was invited every year and was very much a favourite- as was the late Bob Crowe who was a brilliant speaker. If you've never been, I would recommend going.
Yes I have been to the big meeting Ange, but my personal favourite gathering was always The Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival weekend in Dorset. I haven't been for a few years now (since covid) but used to go every year for many, many years. That I definitely recommend. ;)

I have a very bad hangover this morning. I was doing fine until the neighbour came around to pick up Rob's card (he's 60 today).

She'd already messaged me to tell me that the daughters procedure to remove the trapped gallstone had failed (for the third time). I could see that she was upset so I opened another bottle of wine, having already seen off half a bottle plus 2 bottles of strong Spingo ale. Seems they've now exhausted all avenues at Truro hospital so Sam will need to go to a specialist in London for what is considered a "complicated" procedure. Apparently it's an unusually large stone and the passage in which it is trapped is much smaller than normal. It's very rare and only seen in approximately one in five million cases. They are obviously very worried.

On a brighter note I went to see Cal's friend Nicky yesterday and spent a lovely couple of hours sat on Cal's bench chatting and eating my pasty. She piqued my interest in visiting the Isles of Scilly again, something that was always on Cal's and my bucket list. She tagged me in on a facebook group that advertised cancellations and late booking availability on the Islands, so it's something I'm strongly considering if this fine weather holds much longer.

Decided not to do anything energetic today and will just have a lazy day in the garden.

It wouldn't be the same without you @jazzy so if you do stop watching the blues you are needed on here .

I was so happy to sit on Cal's bench @Barnfred 55 ,many lovely memories from what was only one week incredible .Who thought a taxi driver's holiday could be so nice .

Why on earth would I ever stop watching / supporting Everton Blue ?
I love and hate them in equal measure . They exasperate me and I'm sure do untold damage to my health , but you can never divorce them ( even though I might want to go for a younger model like ....say Man City occasionally ) lol

You really must go to the Isles of Scilly Fred. It is a magical place and the beaches especially on Tresco will make you think you are in the Caribbean.
However don't be tempted to go by sea . You are perfectly placed to get a cab to Lands End Airport and it's a 15 minute hop on the plane.
My tip is stay on St Mary's ( much cheaper ) and get the daily boat to the outer Islands . Tresco is expensive but a must visit.
