Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I wouldn't exactly say firing in all cylinders. After 3 days with the boys I need a break, and a couple of days on the wagon beckons. There are another group of lads that have threatened to come down and visit me in the Spring and they are animals when it comes to partying, so god knows how I'll be after that. lol

The lads left a couple of hours ago and I've just had a little nap on the couch. Took them for lunch down to the Ferryboat Inn, a lovely pub down on the Helford River, a couple of miles from where I live. It's full of Hooray Henry's in the summer but this time of year it becomes a locals pub. Mind you the locals sometimes consist of people like Roger Taylor from Queen, Kate Bush and Caroline Quentin, all of who have properties in the area. The local rumour mill also has Dawn French buying down there as she recently sold her place in Fowey. I've never seen anybody famous down there but I don't go that often as you need an oxygen tent after you've climbed back up the hill to the car park lol

Lol, that sounds like where we stay - Polzeath :

Lilly Allen
Gordon Ramsey and family.
Nick Knowles and faniky
Jason Robinson and family
Nigel Farage and family.
The cast of Doc Martin.

That have been there at one time or another, when we’ve been there.

I even helped Lily Allen lift her pram out of a cafe, as everyone else was sat in their arse just watching her struggle.

Sounds like you had a great if tiring few days with your mates Fred.

When I was working we used to have some ridiculous Friday night sessions.
Now a couple of pints of Guiness and I'm peeing all night.
Same. We used to have two hour lunches on a Friday, go back to work, a bit "merry" shall we say, work in the loosest sense of the word for another hour until we could go home then go straight to the pub. And stay out until we got thrown out. I was working in Birkenhead at the time so frequented some of the dodgiest establishments I had ever been in. At some point in the evening I would realise that there was a river between me and home and have a drunken panic attack about how I was going to cross this river to get home! Depending on the lateness of the hour I sometimes persuaded my workmates to come over to Liverpool and go clubbing. I think I would die now if I tried to do that!

Tell me about it mate. The same group of lads used to have all day sessions at Chester and Aintree races, starting at breakfast at 9am and going on till the early hours. Now I have 3 pints of strong larger and I can't string 3 comprehensive sentences together and, as you say, peeing all night. lol

Yeah there's quite a few live around the Rock area, and it's quite popular with mummy and daddy's little darlings in the summer. lol . They all go and stay with their mates at the family holiday homes and it can get a bit raucous at times. I know you didn't manage to get down here this summer because it was all booked out, but it's probably just as well mate. I believe it got out of hand and everybody was having sex on the beach, and I don't mean the cocktail. :) Fine if you're one of the lucky ones but not so fine if you're one of the locals or volunteers who have to clean up after them.

Much more tranquil where I live. Or maybe I'm just getting old.

Hmmm. Birkenhead? Sounds to me that you may have worked at the Land Registry Anj. Now I understand the state of some of the charge certificates we used to get back. lol

How rude!!! I was very conscientious I'll have you know. Although we did sew a Christmas meal menu inside a charge certificate instead of the mortgage deed! The solicitors were very nice about it and sent back their menu options. ? ?

Hi Sassy.

Ormskirk has actually changed a lot since we moved out of Liverpool to here.

It used to be very sleepy , perhaps a bit upmarket but it has gone from being a quiet market town to being a vibrant young student town dominated by Edge Hill University.

I left school.with very modest qualifications having been pretty bored at school.

I had wanted to be a journalist but ended up working in a Solicitors ( Attorney) office as an office junior. I was lucky that a senior lawyer recognised some talent in me and encouraged me to return to studying on a part time basis. Fast forward and I earned a first class honours in law and was top marked student in that year including Oxford and Cambridge students. Mum and Dad were very proud and very nervous when I qualified and was presented with my certification.

I met Mrs J on holiday in Greece and much to my parents disgust moved from Plymouth to Liverpool 4 weeks after meeting her.

We are both from pretty rough council estates , Mrs J from a part of Liverpool called Huyton which is where we lived when I moved up in '82.

I went onto to become a senior partner in my firm and retired when I was 50 , knackered and burnt out.

Mrs J overcame 2 open heart surgeries to become an deputy head teacher at a large secondary school.

The garden is huge. Part of it is pasture for the animals but the majority is landscaped. We have over 150 different types of Rhododendron including some quite rare species grown from seed from Rhodis only found in N. India and Tibet.

We also have a many different types of Acer trees.

There are a number of different "rooms" within the garden with a Japenese courtyard , Mediterranean garden , bog garden with lake and prairie grass area.

During the last lockdown I created an Arboretum but it will be many years before it matures and looks anything..

Mind you I planted a North American Coastal Redwood which has grown 5 feet in just under a year!

So I keep busy!
That all sounds amazing. All round to yours for cans when we escape relegation on the final day?

What's the Everton forum been like today? If it's anything like me and the mates last night most people were resigned to a heavy defeat before a ball was kicked. I always find that defeats are much harder to stomach when expectation levels are higher, even against that lot. We decided to watch the match last night, despite reservations, and actually kept it on all the way through and also into the post match debate. I think some of that actually annoyed me more than the match itself. And I don't ever want to have to listen to Ally McCoist ever again. Just wish him and Salah would go get a room or something.

Thought we actually showed a bit of fight 15 minutes either side of half time which was a bit encouraging for the future. First time I'd seen Rondon since the West Ham and Watford games and I actually thought he did OK surprisingly, Just typical of our luck that we have to see him play crap for a dozen games whilst he get's up to speed, then as soon as he starts to look a bit sharper he goes and get's injured. Everton that.

Sorry. Forgot this was an Everton that free zone. lol
