Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Could have been anywhere in Birkenhead TBF, not many of those 'character' pubs left.
There was one called the Crown and Cushion. It was terrifying. You would have to regularly dodge flying ashtrays. The landlady, a 4ft tall Glaswegian was one of the hardest most scary people I have ever met. i ended up going out with one of the barmen for a while (Kopite, didn't last!) He chatted me up with the line "I always thought you were a lesbian". Happy days......

I spent two years living in Birkenhead in the 70’s , just off Borough Road , down from Prenton Park . I came out of the house one morning and thought “ Where’s my car gone!!!”. Phoned the Police Station and reported it, phoned back a couple of hours later , it had been abandoned on some street or other, but I’d have to go to the Station first . They used to remove a part from the car as they found if they didn’t cars would be nicked again before the owner got there :)

What's the Everton forum been like today? If it's anything like me and the mates last night most people were resigned to a heavy defeat before a ball was kicked. I always find that defeats are much harder to stomach when expectation levels are higher, even against that lot. We decided to watch the match last night, despite reservations, and actually kept it on all the way through and also into the post match debate. I think some of that actually annoyed me more than the match itself. And I don't ever want to have to listen to Ally McCoist ever again. Just wish him and Salah would go get a room or something.

Thought we actually showed a bit of fight 15 minutes either side of half time which was a bit encouraging for the future. First time I'd seen Rondon since the West Ham and Watford games and I actually thought he did OK surprisingly, Just typical of our luck that we have to see him play crap for a dozen games whilst he get's up to speed, then as soon as he starts to look a bit sharper he goes and get's injured. Everton that.

Sorry. Forgot this was an Everton that free zone. lol
That's encouraging Fred. I didn't watch it but temptation got the better of me and I listened to it on the radio.
Never easy to judge from that but we sounded a bit lacklustre.
My mates who went to the game were scathing about the lack of fight and commitment but then again they had to put up with RS taunts the whole game so that might colour their opinion.

Hi Sassy.

Ormskirk has actually changed a lot since we moved out of Liverpool to here.

It used to be very sleepy , perhaps a bit upmarket but it has gone from being a quiet market town to being a vibrant young student town dominated by Edge Hill University.

I left school.with very modest qualifications having been pretty bored at school.

I had wanted to be a journalist but ended up working in a Solicitors ( Attorney) office as an office junior. I was lucky that a senior lawyer recognised some talent in me and encouraged me to return to studying on a part time basis. Fast forward and I earned a first class honours in law and was top marked student in that year including Oxford and Cambridge students. Mum and Dad were very proud and very nervous when I qualified and was presented with my certification.

I met Mrs J on holiday in Greece and much to my parents disgust moved from Plymouth to Liverpool 4 weeks after meeting her.

We are both from pretty rough council estates , Mrs J from a part of Liverpool called Huyton which is where we lived when I moved up in '82.

I went onto to become a senior partner in my firm and retired when I was 50 , knackered and burnt out.

Mrs J overcame 2 open heart surgeries to become an deputy head teacher at a large secondary school.

The garden is huge. Part of it is pasture for the animals but the majority is landscaped. We have over 150 different types of Rhododendron including some quite rare species grown from seed from Rhodis only found in N. India and Tibet.

We also have a many different types of Acer trees.

There are a number of different "rooms" within the garden with a Japenese courtyard , Mediterranean garden , bog garden with lake and prairie grass area.

During the last lockdown I created an Arboretum but it will be many years before it matures and looks anything..

Mind you I planted a North American Coastal Redwood which has grown 5 feet in just under a year!

So I keep busy!
That’s an amazing life story mate, fair play to you.

I can only apologise in advance for all damage caused during the ‘Benitez has been sacked let’s scale Jazzy’s walls for a garden party’ party.

Blimey. lol
