Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Hi Everyone!

I hope all of you are having a good day! I have some great news! I was just hired for a job last week! A few of you know I have been not working for a while, and being a stay at a home Mom. The job offer showed up out of the blue. I had been praying a lot about getting one. And last week, I had a feeling I was going to get a job offer, and Wednesday it happened!! I've been saying many thank you prayers to God for that! It's basically the perfect job for me and has everything I wanted, so I feel blessed.

I don't know when I start, but they said next month or August at the latest. Now, I'm crazy busy playing catch up from earlier this year AND getting ready for the job, BUT I'm not complaining! lol
Now let's hope you find the time ,well done @Vegas Toffee Girl ,a big step for anyone .All is left is to kill it .

Good morning all on this once again fine sunny day here in Hyvinkää. What a font of knowledge masquarades on here as Everton fans .One of the small joys on here is the genuine help and advice that comes from an off chance remark .I too think you would be a shoehorn in for the post @Gwladysover over you have given such good help on here to ones in need . A mention too for the others giving excellent comment on the idea .
I hope all had a good night and wake to a beautiful day COYB.

I have a one o'clock appointment on facebook with my son who suffers from ADD ,he left his home and family just before I visited @Barnfred 55 and I have been trying to contact him since even before that , hopefully we have a chat today as I don't know where he is ,he might be in Liverpool or as was the case when he left at a friends but hopefully he is back home with his wife and three kids .

Morning everyone.

@blue1948 I hope that the online chat with your son goes well and he can be reconciled with his family.

@Gwladysover , you would be a wonderful Samaritan and if it's something that you'd like to do you should go for it.

@Vegastoffeegirl great news about the job , well done!

So, a lot more rain around today and it's back in the gym . Only problem is the moving the gravel has caused my elbow to kick off again. I only did 3 arm exercises yesterday and was in pain. Therefore it's a cardio and leg day and chill in the sauna and steam rooms.

Me and Mrs J have been looking at cruises to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary in the autumn but can't book until we can get a house sitter in place. Her sister is perfect and loves staying here but her husband has had a stroke so that's a no go.

Everton news is well non existent.

Well, whatever you do , have a lovely day.

@anjelikaferrett hope you are looking forward to the 2nd test.

The team looks terribly unbalanced to me and has a very long tail . On the other hand Australia will be stronger with Starc in for Bolland. Can only see another defeat , hope I'm wrong.

Enjoy.
I am very looking forward to it. I agree with your analysis- especially if Smith and Labuschagne find some form. They are both due a big one.

Where are you thinking of going Jazzy……

Morning all, cloudy again today but the weather has turned humid again, rain forecast for later. I’m hoping it will stay dry at least until the evening as it is the summer fete at grandkids 3&4 school this afternoon. Hannah has been picked to help on her class stall and is very excited. She should be good at it - if anyone can part the punters from their money it’s her. lol . Thanks to everyone who offered encouragement and kind words regarding the Samaritans, it means a lot to me. There is also an AgeUK telephone friendship service which is also something I will look into. Talking of telephone chat, I do so hope that your call with your son goes well @blue1948, although with the time difference, it may already have taken place. Good luck with the house sitter search @jazzy, fingers crossed you find someone. Just seen £105m for Declan Rice, given our current situation, I think it’s going to be another rough ride next season. On that happy note, have a good day all.💙

Having dealt with AgeUk due to my wife, I have nothing but respect for these folk……

Well done V. ;)

I did consider it some years ago, never really had the confidence to take it on. I always thought I may end up making things worse, giving wrong advice etc.
I'm sure you'd be very good at it H. It's more about listening and showing empathy i think, and just chatting rather than giving actual advice. Something I've seen you do very well in the mental health thread.

If you could do it with GIFs you'd be an absolute natural. ;)

Good afternoon all. Hope you are all OK. I'm so sad about the report that has come out about cricket today. Racist, elitist, mysoginistic, classist. It's just awful. What the hell is wrong with people? Throwing bacon sandwiches at Muslim players, 'no bras in the scorebox'(no doubt passed off as banter). It costs nothing to be nice and to respect people of all colours, creeds and genders. I genuinely despair. I've downloaded the full report to read. One of the things that caught my eye was that England women have never played at Lords but Harrow v Eton gets to play there every year. I'll leave it there before I get on the proper Milly Tant, rabid feminist soap box. But before I do, I really hope the ECB follow through with the proposed sanctions against Yorkshire because, as of now, absolutely nothing has happened to them.

And breathe.....Rainy day here today. Daughter had a day off and made chocolate brownies. The smell wafting up to my work space was awesome! Can't wait to try them after tea. Speaking of tea, we're having an all day breakfast tonight. It may or may not include home made chips. Depends on how many hash browns we've got lurking in the freezer.

Non working day tomorrow. Looking forward to a quiet Wednesday with nothing more taxing than the weekly food shop.

Have a lovely evening folks.
I used to get so stressed out with the weekly food shop. Don't know why. Possibly because I spent half my time walking around the shop with an armful of groceries trying to find Cal who always had the shopping trolley. lol I'm sure she used to hide from me on purpose.

Tbf, you do need confidence, but primarily you are there to listen and as Jazzy says to empathise, not to know all of life’s answers. There will be lots of other people with special knowledge in certain areas and providing a link between them and a caller is the follow up. Of course there will be some real emotional and stressful calls, but by providing a welcome voice and gaining trust would, and I can only imagine, be the first step in helping. I’m sure that it is an amazingly difficult role and the people doing it require a certain amount of mental strength so that they themselves don’t go under. But never underestimate your ability to do this and while trying to avoid being sexist or misogynistic, but women who have some experience of life would, I would have thought be perfect for the role….

Obviously, Fred, Jazzy and myself would tell them to get a grip, stop moaning and get a job…if you get my drift…I threw this last line in to lighten the post…..
In 35 years in banking I worked with a lot of male and female managers, both above and below me in the pecking order. I honestly couldn't say which gender was better as they were all different, some good and some bad. But where the ladies did stand out was as regards sensitivity, and by that I mean picking up on things and sensing things. They are so much better at it than their male counterparts.

Hope it works out mate.

Hi all. The weekly shopping trip turned into 'Muuum, do you fancy going to Costco?' Daughter is still off work. Anyway £247 later we have a year's supply of cat flea treatment, a 1kg bag of tortilla chips, 40 loo rolls, enough kitchen rolls to last all year and an enormous jar of pickled gherkins that nobody, except daughter likes!. We did buy other things but they were the stand out purchases 🤣🤣 No wonder I'm neither rich nor skinny.
Hope the call went well @blue1948.
