Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I bought up just about every loaf left in Aldi last night.

Morning all, hope you had a comfortable night Messy. Googled Mawnan Smith, Fred and it truly is stunning. We are on the edge of the Fens and the scenery could hardly be more different. Stamford is not too far away though and there are some pretty villages around there. Bit cloudy now after a bright start. Mr G. may attempt to put the outdoors lights up if the weather holds. I will supervise from indoors.lol. Have a good day, everyone.
I'm very lucky to call this place home Gwladys. Which is why making a decision on my long term future is so difficult. I've made a decision to stay down here for at least next year, and hopefully more friends and family will be able to make the journey down here to visit. It such a long car journey though. It doesn't help that the railway links are next to useless and Flybe, who used to service Newquay airport, went bust at the start of the pandemic. Half of the routes haven't been re-opened yet, including the bi weekly one from Liverpool.

I did try before you buy with the liqueur and also felt obliged to buy a bottle! I'm rubbish in markets. I hate going and haggling when you are on holiday. Went to one in Turkey once and realised, when I translated the money we were arguing about 75p. I paid the full price. My other horrendous holiday experience was on a shopping day when we were in Jamaica which included a trip to a market. I felt so sorry for the people selling stuff. I bought a wooden turtle, a purse made out of a coconut, a sarong in the colours of the Jamaican flag and a bracelet depicting cannabis leaves! None of which I wanted or needed! I spent $75 on utter crap. lol
Cal was the same. It must be a girl thing. Her wardrobe is full of items bought on the beaches and markets of the Caribbean. lol. She felt sorry for them and always wanted to give them some business. But you wonder sometimes. We were on Tortola once and went on an organised trip by large catamaran to one of the neighbouring US Virgin Isles. The trip probably cost around £40 each and part of that covered lunch at this beach bar which consisted of a greasy burger and some limp chips (not the usual standard of Caribbean hospitality). Next minute we see all the guys from the boat walking around with lobster claws that they'd bought from the adjacent beach bar. lol

Love this! One of my favourite memories of Jamaica was standing in the beach bar/grill queue behind two stunningly beautiful black girls from USA. The lads working on the bar and grill took flirting to a whole new level. They got chairs for them, gave them extra chips, carried their plates to their table. That took four of them, one for plates, one for drinks, one for cutlery and one for condiments. It was hilarious. Didn't stay long enough to find out if the flirting achieved the desired result.

I know exactly what you mean Anj. We were on a Caribbean Christmas cruise once. For some reason we always seem to get friendly with certain types of cruiser. Cal used to jokingly call it picking up stray's, but basically it was usually women of around our own age who are on holiday with an elderly parent. We'd often meet up late evening once their parent had gone to bed. In this particular case it was a woman a bit younger than us who was on holiday with her daughter who was around 20, and utterly stunning. She was a student in London and modelled in her spare time, and was mixed race, the result of a fling her mother had with a Jamaican guy many years earlier. On the boat she used to do her own thing whilst her mum spent most evenings with us, but whenever we went ashore she was always with us. And just like you said, wherever we went, because she was with us we didn't want for anything. Local lads were falling over themselves, We got cheap sunbeds, drinks, the best tables if we went for a meal. And they were so obvious it was hilarious. There was one lad in Grenada who followed our taxi all the way back to port on his moped, just to get her phone number. lol I mean what else was he expecting. her mother was there FGS.

Good Sunday @messymascot and friends. As always, we are thinking of you dear Karl. And we’re sending you strength for everything you are having to endure. We love you ?

The sun is already shining here in Asheville. Yesterday was a beautiful warm day, the temperature got to 23 so I spent most of the afternoon working on my garden and I got a lot accomplished. It is amazing how much I can get done on the weekends when Everton is not playing ? I also took advantage that my daughter was having a sleepover with a friend and got to wrap most of her Christmas presents. Since we are going to CR I need to leave everything for Christmas and her birthday ready because we won’t be back home until Dec 22. But I’m done with all my shopping so except for wrapping a few more items, I’m all set for Christmas ?

Tomorrow I’m only going to be able to watch the first half of the match. I forgotten that I had scheduled a full body massage from a gift certificate the hubby had given me a while back. I thought about rescheduling the massage but my body can really use the pampering so I’m going have to miss the second half. Hopefully once I check the score I’ll be happily surprised by our Blues.

Good morning @messymascot ,I hope you manage a visit today and have a read .Good morning to all others on this wonderful morning -17° outside and that is where it will be staying ,no walk for us as the wind chill will make it feel like -24° and that is too cold to be fun.For those interested it is about 5 ° colder than the freezer box with your fridge . So nice posts again despite what our club is going through . Stay safe and strong folks .
Very wise to stay indoors, hopefully alongside a warm drink and some good telly.

Sassy are you crazy! I would not be rescheduling anything that brings you joy and happiness to take part in anything Everton related - which has the exact opposite effect. Enjoy your massage x

Morning one and all.

Busy day today as its the Animal.rescue Christmas fair.

Mrs J will be making soup and sandwiches for about 100 after I bought up just about every loaf left in Aldi last night.

My job will be to man the entry gate so hope the weather will be kind.

We usually park cars on the field but if we do that we will need a tractor to get them off , so fortunately the local pub kindly agreed to let us use their car park.

I hope today is a good one for you Messy and that you feel up to posting a message letting us know you are OK.

Have a lovely day everyone.
Jazzy, I hope the weather has been good to you. This charity is very fortunate to have you and Mrs. J support and hard work because it sounds like she had a lot of kitchen work to do. What soup and sandwiches did she make? And did you manage to raise as much money as you wished? I noticed @anjelikaferrett posted information on the charity and will definitely look into it.
