Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Eughh! For many years I frowned on ice in single malt , but I now find it acceptable , but it tends to be and on / off thing with me, currently off. For scotch I tend to think there can be too much snobbery attached at times, ice or water are acceptable if that’s what people prefer. I seem to remember someone, probably Chicoazul , promoting keeping red wine in the fridge. Ah , the different tastes of Goters !
I think there's as much snobbery surrounding alcohol as there is with music BL. I try to be tolerant to other peoples tastes but some times I do wince, I have to confess. If I know somebody is going to spoil a drink with ice, water or too much mixer, I tend to give them the cheaper stuff and save the good stuff for people who appreciate it ;)

I do think it's different with single malts as they all have their own characteristics. Some, especially the really peaty ones, can be enhanced with a chunk of ice or splash of water. Very often the description on the back of the bottle will tell you how to drink it, or you can just try it neat and if it's not for you try it with a splash. The difference can be amazing at times. Also, some of the very light red wines, like Italian Rosso, are actually better served chilled and drank al fresco on a warm sunny day.

Anyway, enough BS from me. I almost sound like I know what I'm talking aboutlol

You have to be tenacious with these people so good for you to keep at them. A moan on their social media page might get you somewhere maybe?
That’s a good idea @Val P . I’ve posted my experience on the KLM Facebook page, I’ll see what responses I get . Next email I get if they’re still being obtuse and obstructive I’ll post on KLM Facebook and ask for comments.

One win though , after yet another email this morning from AML Compliance team asking me to provide details of pension going into my accounts , I took a deep breath , channelled my inner calm , sent off a screenshot and got a reply saying “ Thank you , all good now! “
One down , just KLM and Tesco Travel Insurance to deal with now!

Fred , I don’t think there’s any doubt that on this thread you’re regarded as the expert on all things alcohol 👍😂

Yes indeed it is true. Often if I’m doing a whisky tasting I’ll try a dram neat first , then add a wee bit of water to release flavours . Ice has a similar affect as it melts .

I’m very impressed to learn you held off for 30 mins before drinking it 😉
I met some joiners from near a distillery he said it should be a few drops no more to release the aromas ,in his words if it was meant to be diluted the makers would do it and charge the same !

That’s funny as I have more beer in my fridge than I have guitar’s in my life

Happy cake day mate

Having a pub and also cellars in my house I have no beers in my fridge, especially as the beer I drink should be served at precisely 58F. Beer is too good to be put in a fridge, that’s for lagers…….while I have no guitars, I enjoy my beers……
