Hey @blueloon I’ve just seen a northern lights alert and people posting from Scotland- can you see them where you are? I’d love to see them but not yet managed to.

Good morning all. We arrived a bit later than planned as the flight had an hour delay. Our hotel is very close to Piraeus harbour so no pics of what is pretty much a ferry port - unless there are some nice cruise ships in for our cruise enthusiasts. Our ferry leaves at 9. I also used my Revolut card for the first time ever. My brother talked me into getting one because he got £60 if he referred somebofy and they spent money on it!The exchange rate is great 1.17 Euros to £1. Would recommend.

Good morning all on the overcast day here in Hyvinkää. I hope all are well and had a good night's sleep .Isn't 58°c a bit warm @peteblue ? I remember when I worked in the Royal Oak on County Road they had a special room for the guinness as it had to be colder or no head .

Have a nice calm ferry ride ( 2hours or so?) I'm sure the weather's better than here! Been to Piraeus a few times , it's actually quite a nice town in its own right and of course the football ground is only 5 minutes walk away from the cruise terminal.
Absolutely hammering down......again.

Hi @Val P Yes they are on the coast near us but we’ve never seen them , it is so annoying!! Last night I was prepared to go out at 1030 but Mrs b had gone to bed and gave me a hurt look “ you can’t go out and see them without me , we ve got to do this together “ We’ve been out quite a few times but always missed them , or clouded over. Last winter our neighbour sent Mrs b a photo of the northern lights taken from the bottom of our drive, by the time she noticed it an hour later clouds had come in! If we ever get to see them I’ll post a photo !

Morning all, very blustery here, the wind is howling down the chimney - Autumn has arrived. I hope the weather clears up for the weekend @Val P , I expect you are glued to the weather forecast. Not much planned for today, just putting off all those little jobs that need doinglol. After watching Mortimer and Whitehouse on Sunday and hearing them mention “Death Cleaning” Mr G. thinks we should do this. I know it makes sense but… and on that happy note… Have a good day all and to all the holidaymakers have a great time.

Brilliant, thank you. I have “encouraged” mr P to drive me to dark spaces to see various meteor showers and northern lights with zero results. The best one being the comet the other year that was around for a while. We set off late and drove to the middle of nowhere with my Night Sky app at the ready. Nothing seen so we came home went upstairs and as I looked out of our bedroom window to shut the curtains… we’ll you can guess. I wasn’t the most popular person that night.

Thank you! I hope it does too but it will be what it is. We’ve got the rehearsal tomorrow night - I’m a bit nervous as they have asked me to do something during the ceremony- the offertory- which is nice considering I’m not religious- I’m just terrified of falling over in these heels. Must check out that Death Cleaning thing I’m sure it’s more useful than it sounds

Hope you have a smooth ferry ride - did you go for Blue Star or a cat? I love watching the comings and goings in the big ports and the little ones, and I love it when you are arriving into port and the door starts to open and you get your first glimpse of the island. Enjoy !

A friend of mine is staying at a seafront apartment in Kirkcaldy, Fife, she sent me some cracking photos of the northern lights last night.
I will need to keep a lookout for them myself tonight.

Photos of the northern lights are apparently better than what you see with the naked eye , something to do with the way the camera catches light I believe. My Facebook is often full of photos on local sites …. I usually see them the next day
