Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I'm definitely going to watch The Reckoning. It will be like a bus man's holiday for me. I read about these depraved individuals in my job but always interesting to see how manipulative they are. When I was training we had to watch a documentary called Chosen. It was a really tough watch and much respect to the men who came forward. Would recommend it. We also had three of Barry Bennell's victims come into the office to talk to us. That was tough too. Heartbreaking to listen to and to meet real people who had experienced such trauma. But again, nothing but respect for them.

Definitely nippy this morning. Glad you had time with your granddaughter and grandson yesterday @peteblue.
I watched The Reckoning last night, Saville was brilliantly played by Steve Coogan and I never knew just how depraved the man was. It was a bit like watching the one about Jeffrey Dahmer - repulsive yet compelling. It must be frustrating for his victims that he was never brought to justice.
Going up to the gym this morning for my review - I hope they’re not expecting much. Have a great day all 💙

I have no intention of watching it tbh, and as you say Val it must be horrible for any of his victims to be reminded of it……

Morning, a busy day for me, our wedding anniversary, sitting on a “ Children’s Panel” this afternoon, ( it’s unique to Scotland, similar to England‘s Family Court) and just back from a run. I listened to the first 2 episodes of the BBC podcast “ Nothing will be the same” while out running , it was interesting , included Everton employees we don’t usually hear about , and painful events from last season. I’ve got as far as last January , it’s depressing how little progress we’ve made.

Good morning all. First of all @peteblue I'm so glad you got to pick up your granddaughter. I hope you had a good chat on the way home🙂. You're so right @blue1948 When I took redundancy from my last job I had two years off. It soon became completely filled with voluntary work and a small part time job ( best job ever. 10 hours a week, term time, note taking at Durham uni for two disabled students) I used to think how on earth did I have time to go to work! I hope the decorators are out of your way @jazzy!
It is frosty here this morning. I could see my breath when I dropped Mr F off at work at 6.45. At 4.45am when the cat wanted to go out the skies were absolutely clear and there were so many stars. Absolutely gorgeous. I managed to spot Orion, Gemini and Cassiopeia and a planet that I think was Jupiter ( one of my aforementioned students did a Stars and Galaxies module in his physics degree! It was brilliant).
At the gym again tonight. I'm taking it very seriously from now on - well, until son's wedding next May. Also no overtime this weekend so completely free weekend.
Have a good day.
Have you tried the Stellarium app ? You must set it for your location but I use it often ( When I am up late )

Morning everyone,

A tiny bit of frost but very cold overnight but awoke to an absolutely gorgeous day.

@anjelikaferrett no the decorators are still here . Should be finished around lunch time and then they head back home to Durham / Hartlepool where they live. Then we get to put the house back together.

@Armaghtoffee and @Gwladysover I've watched the Jimmy Saville programme. It's genuinely a tough watch but essential in my view that these types of programmes are made to expose the MO of these gobshites. Yes Coogans performance is jaw dropping.

So hopefully we get the house back this afternoon, the dogs can have a nice play in the garden and we can relax and get ready for next week when we have builders in to insulate the loft and roof in readiness for the winter!

@peteblue I hope your day goes smoothly, you've had enough bumps in road recently ..

Anyway have a lovely day everyone .
Check the insulation for gaps any more than a finger thickness will render it almost pointless and no squashed as that is as bad ,lastly I hope you have ordered at least 30cm ,the saving is vastly improved by a greater thickness .

Yes I've listened to chunks of it. Incredible how low we've fallen.
Are you lay or professional members of the panel BL?

Thanks both, yes I thoroughly enjoyed our chat and it’ll be same again today…..

Absolutely fuming. Bernie Ecclestone gets a suspended sentence for millions of pounds of tax fraud over 18 years. How can that be right when a benefit cheat will get jailed for significantly lower sums of money? Oh I know, one is a billionaire paid up member of the establishment and the other is probably poor and skint. I'm not condoning either but there's something wrong here.

He also has to repay £653M to the taxman. Let’s be honest we’ve probably all ‘forgotten’ about the odd £400M stashed away abroad……..

We’re all volunteers mate, it’s official title is “ Children’s Hearings Scotland” , it’s backed up by a professional administrative staff , legal professionals and professionals like Social Work , Youth Justice Workers etc. There’s a review report currently with the Scottish Government were paid “ Chairpersons “ and Panel members are proposed. Few , if any Panel Members , want paying though. It can be time consuming and difficult, but overall it’s very worthwhile .

He is 97 and will pay HMRC £650m?
