Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all, bright and sunny here but decidedly on parky side, have had to put the heating on, very reluctantly I might add. We have come to the end of our fixed priced contract so really going to notice the difference this winter. It’s the Great Eastern run today and our road will be blocked off at around 10.30. The signs have been up for weeks but it always comes as a total surprise to some motorists who still try to get through despite being told to turn round and do a small detour which is too much trouble for them. Happens every year.
Have a good day all.💙

I must confess that I've never heard of most of them Val and we've been visiting Greek islands for over 30 years! lol.

I love Naxos and I'd really like to go back there. Mrs J just looked up Koufonisia and it looks incredible.

How often / regularly do the ferries run between these smallers islands and which website do you use to work out an intinery?

Thanks in advance
Well I’ve actually booked it yesterday!! Luckily everything fell into place. So we’re flying into Athens, staying overnight (necessary due to flight arrival/ferry departure times) then down to Sifnos, Amorgos, Koufonisia, Iraklia, Naxos Town then back to Mykonos but only to catch the flight home. It feels early but I’ve missed out on our favourite place in Amorgos as it’s booked up for when we want to go but I’ve managed to get somewhe very close by, and that is the problem with the small islands- they tend to get repeat visitors who book year on year.
All of these islands have daily ferry connections but you can route plan on Ferryhopper.com and they also have an app. The times for next year only come out in full in Feb/March but I check during summer months for this as they usually roll over year on year. Most of the islands have a daily ferry route but they’re a bit like motorways ie not all islands have an easy link between them. Costs vary massively- from the cheap little chuggers to the large fast cats and ferries. Flight prices also varied too depending on where you fly to.
if you want more info I’d be happy to share my routes with you as we’ve been doing this since 2018 - not an expert more of an enthusiastic amateur.

Fab , thanks so much

Good morning all. Cold, frosty but sunny today. I've mostly been watching the cricket this morning. Afghanistan are going well at the moment but it's a good batting pitch so England should be OK when they get in.
Today is the self imposed central heating deadline day. It can go on from now onwards. 🤣 Like @ Gwladysover we've been on a fixed rate which runs out at the end of December. I'm not looking forward to finding a new tariff.
It's our wedding anniversary on Thursday so I'm going to have to go out at some point today to get a card. We've booked a meal on that day at the pub down the road - walkable so I can drink too!
Have a lovely Sunday x

I think you should learn the mushrooms but you do need an experienced picker ,I was lucky my wife had been picking all her life when I met her but we found a mushroom the other day that she had never seen before and it was a shock because chanterelles were unmistakeable ,not now ,they were so similar but growing directly from an old branch ,enough to worry us for the sake of others though . I know a fair bit but almost every mushroom has to pass the wife test even now after twenty years .Do it but be sure as some certainly can kill you .
I bought a pocket guide that was good ,sorry about the orientation it is still early !View attachment 231459

I’d love to have to knowledge to do this, alas I don’t so it would be like playing Russian roulette …I am however in awe of those that can…..

Hi Blue!

Yeah I've had some dramas going on the past few weeks and I have a bad habit of withdrawing when that happens. It's the way I cope I guess. Everything is fine. I'll fill you guys in later. Plus I need to catch up on y'all's happenings!

Hope all of you are having a good day!
