Desperation measures!Well done with the gym - you are putting me to shame
It's actually not International G&T day until Thursday. My liver will be pleased.First time I've heard G&T compared to Dettol.
Anyway, just found out it's National G&T day today. Well, you have to don't you.
That would be around 1973. We got the afternoon off school to go and watch. Think we may have discussed this beforeOh yes to the West Indies as well. It's a shame they are so rubbish now. I have very fond memories of seeing the likes of Roberts and Greenidge turning out for their counties against Lancashire when they played at Liverpool Cricket Club. Not forgetting our own Clive Lloyd.
I think we have. The quality of County cricket was amazing in those days. I saw some amazing international cricketers turning out to play. That would be around 1973. We got the afternoon off school to go and watch. Think we may have discussed this before
An interesting take on the car situation ,there are a few reasons that a new car is not the answer 1/ the cost 2/the amount of travel we do means the first option would be more expensive than taxis 3/ What would I do with my time ,the wife commented on her mistake of showing me how to identify said mushrooms and I told her that if it wasn't them I would have to find something else ,the good news is we can at least eat a lot of them ,we have now weedled our way into getting the closest neighbour to take them off us ,meaning we can find more .Have you ever thought of doing something radical Blue like buying a new car that you don't have to tinker with?
Might give you more time to hunt for mushrooms and pick berries .
Agree with you and the other sentiments re Carsley btw.
Morning everyone. I do hate international football and in particular international breaks from the premier League. Still at least Everton can't lose this weekend and can't say I'm looking forward to next week's walloping against the RS , at least that rat Robertson is out injured so I guess international football is good for something.
Anyway lots of gardening planned for the weekend , starting with moving a 10 foot foxglove tree . Should be fun!
Well whatever you do mascoteers have a lovely weekend.
You cad ( you haven't been called that to my knowledge for quite some time) you know I enjoyed almost every morsel and told you ,you will remember the bit I didn't enjoy as you enjoyed the pisstake after. You can tell the Cornish is getting to you ,where I come from a pie sitting in the front of a car even technically isn't eating out .Encouraging to know that your most memorable meals are the 2 occasions when we ate out.
Agree totally re. the Sunday late game, it’s the worst slot of the weekend. On the other hand I can go to Stalybridge Celtic with Prescot Cables on the Saturday, every cloud…..Good morning all, looks like a bright start to the day although the rain woke me in the night rattling the windows. Ended up in the Lake District yesterday Grasmere - very pretty, and Bowness - also lovely but a bit busier. Proper big coat weather too. I feel very lucky to live in the NW as we are so close to so many lovely places for days out.
Don’t bother with MBF Greek Wedding 3 as the best thing about it was hearing the cicadas and looking at the scenery. To address the balance we watched Captain Correli’s Mandolin for the 7millionth time. It’s inspired me to start a new spreadsheet and get planning next years island hop - I’m finding the flight prices massively more expensive for next summer but it is what it is.
Usually of late I‘very been a bit relieved not to have Everton in my weekend but due to our upturn I’m feeling like I will miss it today. I see our game against Man U has been moved to Sunday evening - is this the worst time to have a game? It just doesn’t feel right to me.
have a great Saturday everyone
Now if you had a nice Finnish dark gin you wouldn't need the tonic. You cad ( you haven't been called that to my knowledge for quite some time) you know I enjoyed almost every morsel and told you ,you will remember the bit I didn't enjoy as you enjoyed the pisstake after. You have however given us a good reason for a G&T this af'noon.Stay well .
Update we finished the tonic yesterday .Donner und blitzen.
I’m with you on the “ new car” front, the amount of miles I do doesn’t really warrant it, and Mrs bl has a newer one than me. Your frequent comments on mushrooms always stirs within me a whim to learn more and become a mushroom gatherer . I’m sure I’ll get around to it but at the moment it’s behind a Brian Cox inspired whim to find out where the Andromeda Galaxy is in the sky and if I can see it with my binoculars! ( Apparently it’s the nearest Galaxy to our own and visible to the naked eye on dark nights)An interesting take on the car situation ,there are a few reasons that a new car is not the answer 1/ the cost 2/the amount of travel we do means the first option would be more expensive than taxis 3/ What would I do with my time ,the wife commented on her mistake of showing me how to identify said mushrooms and I told her that if it wasn't them I would have to find something else ,the good news is we can at least eat a lot of them ,we have now weedled our way into getting the closest neighbour to take them off us ,meaning we can find more .
They say here that mushroom picking is better for your mind than crosswords as you use more faculties and more brain power .
Anyway the cars days as a project are hopefully numbered and yes I have another one in mind ! If I do get it one will need to go and therein lies the biggest obstacle -the wife .She loves the Jag despite not wanting me to buy it on the day.
My ex didn't want me to build my own house but I explained I "needed "to ,when it was finished of course she changed her mind and when we divorced she of course demanded the house .
I think you should learn the mushrooms but you do need an experienced picker ,I was lucky my wife had been picking all her life when I met her but we found a mushroom the other day that she had never seen before and it was a shock because chanterelles were unmistakeable ,not now ,they were so similar but growing directly from an old branch ,enough to worry us for the sake of others though . I know a fair bit but almost every mushroom has to pass the wife test even now after twenty years .Do it but be sure as some certainly can kill you .I’m with you on the “ new car” front, the amount of miles I do doesn’t really warrant it, and Mrs bl has a newer one than me. I must confess that I've never heard of most of them Val and we've been visiting Greek islands for over 30 years! lol.I’m torn really. I feel like I ought to try some new ones but there are others which I really love and always want to go back to. So initial thoughts are possibly Amorgos, Koufonisia, Schinousa, Iraklia, with a couple of nights in Naxos Town, and the necessary overnight in Mykonos due to flight times. I want to go back to Koufonisia before it gets commercialised - there are little signs of that happening which makes me sad but I get why. But I also feel we ought to do the Dodecanese sometime, and I’ve always wanted to go to Kastelorizo but it’s such an outlier and a pain to get to. I’ve looked at Lesbos following your recommendation but again it looks like the type of island which you should do a full holiday on and it looks a bit remote from other islands - but I’d be happy to be corrected on that.
Flights to Athens are significantly cheaper than to Mykonos by the looks of it but you have to offset that with ferry costs and overnight in Pireaus- I need a few hours of proper planning time and I’m sure my head will have exploded by the end of it
Yep you've always struck me as a fun guy blue lolI think you should learn the mushrooms but you do need an experienced picker ,I was lucky my wife had been picking all her life when I met her but we found a mushroom the other day that she had never seen before and it was a shock because chanterelles were unmistakeable ,not now ,they were so similar but growing directly from an old branch ,enough to worry us for the sake of others though . I bought a pocket guide that was good ,sorry about the orientation it is still early !View attachment 231459
Thanks, I think it’s something I can combine with my running, but in reality Mrsbl won’t go anywhere near any mushrooms I bring into the house…..unless they’re from TescoI think you should learn the mushrooms but you do need an experienced picker ,I was lucky my wife had been picking all her life when I met her but we found a mushroom the other day that she had never seen before and it was a shock because chanterelles were unmistakeable ,not now ,they were so similar but growing directly from an old branch ,enough to worry us for the sake of others though .
