Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning. It's absolutely wild this morning here. Our recycle bin blew over during the night so Mr F and I spent a good ten minutes picking up plastic bottles, tin cans etc before I took him to work. Then a gust of wind caught the car door as I was trying to get in and it hit me in the face. I now have a cut on my nose. All this before 7am!
Stay indoors folks.
Apart from some localised flooding we are seeing just a good old wet and windy day here.

Hope that cut heals soon.

We ( well the animal charity that Mrs J and her sister set up and which I support) had some great news today.
After undertaking due diligence the trustees of Paul.O'Grady have awarded us a £20000 donation in recognition of our dedication and to enable us to continue our work.
Not only is the money important but equally the it's a boost to all staff and volunteers to be recognised in this way .

@anjelikaferrett great to see you back in your health regime and good luck with the new post. We too succumbed to the cold and put the central heating on last night to coincide with me fleecing and protecting so of the less hardy tropical plants..

@Val P brilliant work at the rescue and I couldn't agree more with your sentiments.
That's great news Jazz. That's two famous and much loved scousers associated with the charity. Can't but help your endeavours mate.

Thank you. It's only a little cut but it did hurt. Your day sounds nice.
I too was very happy with the by election results last night. I think even die hard Tories will be appalled at the behaviour of this Government. I'm sure corrupt, self-serving and incompetent wasn't what they signed up for.
Happy and a somewhat belated anniversary Anj. You must have got married just a few months before me. It's amazing how much of our lives have been mirrored. I bet we must have been in the same place at the same time on numerous occasions back in the day. Congrats on your new job too. Doesn't seem that long ago that you were contemplating semi retirement. But if you're still enjoying then go for it girl.

Hope your nose is OK. Sometimes you can get really knocked up when these sort of things happen. At least it wasn't worse and the door didn't swing in on your hand. That happened to Cal once and broke 2 of her fingers.

Speaking of complaints Fred, I have given up on The Lovers after 3 episodes. I soon realised I was enjoying identifying streets in Belfast more than the writing 😙
Yeah the writing wasn't great. It was more the on screen connection from the 2 leads that I liked. Never seen that Roisin Gallagher in anything before but I'll be looking up her other stuff. Thought she was great in it.

It got very deep and dark after you stopped watching it mate. Turns out they were from opposite sides of the troubles and both had close family members killed. The last 2 episodes they didn't even try to make it funny. But yeah, whilst I quite enjoyed it, it isn't one that I'll bother turning on again.

Did you ever watch Normal People, another series set in Ireland?. It's a bit slow but the fantastically well acted by two young actors. Think it may still be available on BBC IPlayer.

Morning all. Bit of catching up to do. Didn't realise I hadn't been on since Sunday (apart from my G&T pic last night). Time flies.

Weather not been too bad down here. We've certainly missed the brunt of it. Started wearing my longer joggy bottoms around the house and put a jumper on of a night, but still don't need the heating on yet. Still hasn't fallen below 10 C overnight though.

Hope you all have a great Friday ;)

It’s wet in the midlands but not particularly heavy. Yeah, it’s proper jumper weather though…..

The chemistry between the leads is very good now you mention it. Roisin Gallagher is new to me on screen but I have seen her on stage and she is brilliant. She has a real resemblance to Suranne Jones I think.

Sounds like I gave up at the right time as I can’t be bothered with another love across the barricades story. It’s not as if a mixed marriage is as startling as it would have once been here FFS!

I did watch Normal People and thought it was done very well.

Some send off to my mate on Wednesday, over 350 people showed up it was an honour to carry his coffin , his wife and 2 kids got up to remember him and did him proud, he was a massive Chelsea fan and they played the Chelsea song when leading him to the hearse, life’s precious folk as quite a few people on this forum know all to well
