Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning all. Pleased to hear @Val P 's service wasn't as painful as anticipated. Nice to hear from you @Terrarian . Feel free to moan. Black flies - yuk! Funny how your sister had them too. How's the back @jazzy ? @blue1948 I hope you get the Jag sorted. And finally ( well almost) glad you had a good night at the bingo @peteblue . We haven't heard from @roydo recently. How's things?
Not much to tell you about. I'm going to Tesco or Lidl later for the weekly shop - that's about as exciting as it gets today. No doubt we will watch the Magpies in the Champions league tonight. Translated that means Mr F will watch and I will make sarcastic comments about murderous owners whilst booing Anthony Gordon.
Have a fun day x

Morning blue and everyone.

I'm around and about, mainly lurking and reading. Still not doing great and I'm sure you all don't want me continuously moaning about stuff that you've all heard a thousand times before.

I have a creepy story though, I've been meaning to share as I know some of you are into esoteric stuff with regards death.

If you recall my mother passed last boxing day anyway last weekend on the saturday, I suddenly started getting black flies in my kitchen. I couldn't see where they were coming from, they were just appearing everytime I went in the kitchen they'd be more.

I only used fly spray on a couple, yet here they were dying on my kitchen windowsill. I must of had about 30ish over the course of a few days, I just binned them all.

So I thought I'd have a giggle and I messaged my sister and said, I think mams trying to haunt me lol as I've had a ton of dead flies. She sent me a picture back saying, what like these(showed picture) and she'd had the same a few weeks before and had took a pic.

It has creeped me out a bit lol Still don't know where they came from. My sister even asked her neighbours but nobody else had them.

Have a good day anyway, I'll try catch up when I'm feeling not so down.
Is it in the last few days T? Fruit flies hatch at this time of year. The eggs are laid in the mechanism of the windows and somehow find themselves inside the house when they hatch. I've had them every year around 23/24 October. Last couple of years I've reduced the number considerably by spraying insect killer on the suspected infected areas the week before.

Your story is much more interesting though T😀

Slight improvement Anj but not good enough to garden or go to the gym
Waiting in for delivery of a new fridge freezer. Going to fun asking them to move it into the kitchen because of my bad back

You see it's Fred's smarts that sets him apart from the rest of us

Bet you thought I was joking about Girls Aloud Jazz. Fast forward to 43 mins. ;)

I'll watch it in full when Mrs J is out , she doesn't like gratuitous swearing...unless she's doing it.
We once caught Joss Stone at the North Sea Jazz festival. Great voice but every other word was f this , F that to which Mrs J replied "I've had enough of her f***ing swearing".
I'm not sure she got the irony lol

So that's where all the fruit flies are coming from, got plenty of those also but no, they were much bigger bluebottle size.

TBH mate the sound quality is poor. Slightly better listened through headphones.

….if they’re like big bluebottles but sluggish, they might be ‘cluster flies’. We had them once, every morning I’d go into the kitchen to find a dozen or so. Mrs Eggs and I would stand for hours trying to find where they were coming from but no joy. Eventually they stopped.

I think they live in garden soil/borders and come into houses when the weather changes, often in roof space.
I agree it is the change of weather that brings them out .

Do they take the old one away ? Here they charge a few euros on the appliance when new that pays for the removal when it is finished ,it saves the fly tipping .

You have to pay them to do that. Think Currys charge £40.
We are getting an American style fridge freezer
At present we have a separate fridge and freezer that are integrated into the kitchen island.
The freezer is on its last legs but still functioning. When it fails I will take it out and have shelving put into the cupboard housing it. We want to keep the fridge , it will be useful for all the drinks parties that we don't have.
