Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I'll watch it in full when Mrs J is out , she doesn't like gratuitous swearing...unless she's doing it.
We once caught Joss Stone at the North Sea Jazz festival. Great voice but every other word was f this , F that to which Mrs J replied "I've had enough of her f***ing swearing".
I'm not sure she got the irony lol

I abhor swearing and will not tolerate it from anybody if my wife or a lady is in earshot. In five years of owning a pub the only person that I have barred was for swearing while my wife was there. I asked him not to do it, he swore, I warned him not to do it, he swore, so I banned him for life…

The youth today have a completely different attitude towards swearing Pete, and it's creeping more into popular music, both the lyrics and in live performances. You only have to watch Glastonbury to see that. I remember the album version of Heart of Glass had the lyrics "pain in the ass" which was considered quite risque at the time and was actually removed from the single release. lol

I think you and me are a dying breed I am afraid ,it is so commonplace on the TV and in the media that kids think it is normal.

Strange day today. My wife kept getting out of bed from about 6.30 but then getting back in. This went on until about 12.30, at which point I sort of pushed her gently to get up. So then having changed her, brushed her teeth and washed her face , I then dressed her. I turned my back at which point she tried to climb back into bed fully clothed. Anyway I got her up, fed her and we both relaxed for an half an hour before she started her wandering around the house. This went on for a couple of hours until my son got back from work. We took my car in to be mot’d and serviced and eventually relaxed. Then went the pub and had a couple of hours with mates. Feeling shattered now. No idea how the early hours will go but if you see a post from me very early then I am back on duty……

I hope you got a good night's sleep @peteblue ,the signs are good as am on first .Say hello to your lovely wife ,have good day .

Morning all. Hope you and your wife managed some proper sleep @peteblue , I can’t imagine how exhausting it must be. I have to confess to the odd expletive slipping out so I’ll definitely be watching my p’s and q’s now. Car all sorted except I need a couple of new bulbs in my fairy lights (aka daytime running lights) so back in again in a couple of weeks. Cosmetic apparently- they said it would still pass it’s MOT, but I love my car and can’t have him looking anything other than pristine.
After the shock of paying I accidentally parked up and found myself in Galloway‘s pie shop buying a Bavarian slice for me and Mr P. Off to the gym then this morning.
Have a lovely day everyone 💙

Good morning all. Pleased to hear @Val P 's service wasn't as painful as anticipated. Nice to hear from you @Terrarian . Feel free to moan. Black flies - yuk! Funny how your sister had them too. How's the back @jazzy ? @blue1948 I hope you get the Jag sorted. And finally ( well almost) glad you had a good night at the bingo @peteblue . We haven't heard from @roydo recently. How's things?
Not much to tell you about. I'm going to Tesco or Lidl later for the weekly shop - that's about as exciting as it gets today. No doubt we will watch the Magpies in the Champions league tonight. Translated that means Mr F will watch and I will make sarcastic comments about murderous owners whilst booing Anthony Gordon.
Have a fun day x
Hope Mr F wasn’t too gutted, it was a good game for the neutrals as they say

There isn't a reaction that fits this post. It's beautiful. Your care for your wife is so loving. I hope you both have a good day. Love to Mrs Pete as well x

Morning all, dull and rainy here. @peteblue I hope that you and Mrs Pete have both had a peaceful night and a more settled day today. Glad your car is sorted @Val P. The talk of swearing reminded me of my Grandad who never swore at home and in times of stress or surprise would exclaim “Well I’m jiggered!” or “Jigger me!”.
Dog sitting for Minnie the dachshund today, son and family are off to London. She was spayed yesterday so feeling a bit sorry for herself.
Have a good day, all.💙

It’s sad how so much swearing is now acceptable on Tv programmes. My memory is of many many years ago listening to Supertramp’s “ Bloody well right” and my mum walking by , stopped “ Is that cursing!?” Times have changed eh.

Jiggered is a word that I use too! As did my dad and nanna - used here in the context of being tired out. I remember my dad coming in from work and saying “I’m absolutely jiggered “. It’s funny how words mean different things in different places. Poor Minnie, lots of cuddles and treats needed 💙

@peteblue so sorry to hear about how bad your day was yesterday.

I can't comprehend what it must be like. Good luck mate.

Well the fridge freezer finally arrived , almost exactly 24 hours after it was due. Now it has to rest upright for 6 hours before we can even plug it in. You couldn't make it up

Not looking good on the PL enquiry . We would struggle with any points deduction but 12 would surely see us relegated.

Back is still in bulk but getting better day by day.

Picked up what looks like a very interesting Lebanese red in Aldi today. Lebanese wine has a good reputation and years ago I tasted Chateau Musar from the Bekka valley and it was superb. So I will give it a go tonight. We aren't drinking for the whole of November so I'd better get it in whilst I can
