Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Hi All!

So sorry I was gone! Late Friday, things started moving fast on my job. They needed references asap as well as other documents. And they had made me an appt to show up 11:30am today, so I was scrambling trying to contact prior supervisors that I hadn't spoken to in 10 years! Good times! lol

Everything went well today! I have a tentative start date of 2 weeks from today.

I need to read through back posts, just wanted to give a quick "Hi" and update!

Sleep well my friends!!!
Well done V

Well, one benefit of the bonfire not catching alight is that it has saved me clearing up the crap and unburnt wood today and picking up all of the nails. We had about 40 pallets and each one has 78 nails I believe, so just the 3120 of them……

I was wrong, counted them again and there were 60. My farmer mate set it alight Sunday evening. So Monday after sorting out my wife, taking my mate to the surgery I spent an hour or so clearing away the larger chunks of remaining wood, then it was picking up granddaughter from school and running her into the town where she now lives then back home dropped my wife off then down the pub to build and lite the two fires… it was a busy day. Today apart from the usual routines I spent an hour or so picking up the larger pieces of metal (Galvanised Timber Mending Plates for the technically minded) that remained from the pallets and giving the area a good raking before I put the magnetic nail catching device on at the weekend to completely clear the ground. I’ll be glad when it’s finally completed….

Very pleased for you VTG and hope it all goes as well as you hope……

Hello everybody, I'm enjoying my new team already. It's a different way of doing things , more thinking, less writing. I've spent most of today and yesterday negotiating my way around the spreadsheets for this area and reading up on the processes. I did manage to do some actual work this afternoon though. You all sound like you have been very busy today - hope you are having a well deserved relaxing evening.

I was going to go to the gym tonight but I've decided to go tomorrow morning after I've dropped Mr F off at work. I've also started my Christmas shopping. I've bought two presents. This is unheard of. I never usually get going until December!

Evening everyone, I hope you’ve had a good day. Good news on the job front for @anjelikaferrett and @Vegas Toffee Girl - onwards and upwards 👍. I hope the TT is going well @jazzy. A magnetic nail catcher sounds like the perfect functional tool @peteblue but it also sounds like the sort of thing you would send an apprentice for - like a long stand . Are they cyclamen @Gwladysover ? They always remind me of late season holidays in Zante 💙.
I’ve been out and about today - lovely walk with my two favourite dogs this morning, delayed getting home as stuck in traffic because tragically someone ended their life on the M6 near where we live 😢. Can’t get it out of my mind tbh it’s really upset me.
Son and d-in-l coming for tea tomorrow so considering I had planned for two person meals this week I’ve had to nip to shops for ingredients to make beef and Guinness casserole . I’m so looking forward to seeing them.
enjoy the rest of your evening and sleep well 💙

Walking through the churchyard this afternoon and noticed these beauties.

Flowers or gravestones ? The reason I ask is that we have a few very old graveyards around our village going back hundreds of years. I am fascinated by the people who lived and died here and the various ages they lived to. I appreciate this may sound morbid, but I see it as a mark of respect for those of us who came before. I have no interest in flowers btw…I read the gravestone before I even noticed the flowers…..

Morning all, another bright day. We are going to a pre Christmas (another ploy to part you from your money) event with daughter and grandkids 3 & 4 this evening. It’s at a local garden centre which I usually avoid like the plague, not that I have anything against it but to get there involves going via a roundabout which frankly scares the life out of me! I would travel miles out of my way to avoid it, don’t think daughter, who will be driving will agree with me though. I’ll probably just keep my eyes closed. lol
Have a good day, all.💙
I love a Christmas event and have several planned over the next few weeks starting a week on Friday with a trip to Cedar Farm, a local artisan shop/market/eating place with a children’s farm which I always make Mr P take me round as I love all the little animals 😂. I hope you’ve all had a great time and you’ve not spent up

You should pop in it's only 5 minutes away!
One of my young TT players has just got himself a weekend job there waiting on.

You and me both Pete , I find graveyards fascinating. For those who know Liverpool I grew up in Wavertree and the route to Sefton Park to play football was via Smithdown road cemetery, I think that’s where it started ! , I persuaded my wife to walk around the old Protestant Cemetery in Macau many years ago. I went on a tour of Glasnevin cemetery in Dublin earlier this year and then a few pints in The Gravediggers Arms , which were visited by Boy George in “Who do you think you are ?”, I even found a cemetery to walk around in Dallas on holiday last month.
