Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Is this an age thing 🤣. I have in the last month been walking my rather unruly lurcher through Anfield Cemetery (he would let anyone come in and take the telly and no doubt show them which cushion the remote was behind but woe betide they’d been to a fancy dress party as a dog). Anyway on the Priory Road side many of the gravestones have been laid flat for safety reasons I suppose (so old). But you can see what wealth there was in the city in the 1800’s by the monuments still standing. Weird to see people laid to rest who were born in 1700’s
If I remeber correctly Walton church has some really old graves ,they are big slabs that are walked on ,the Church dates from about 1300 I think.

Good morning all on this murky day here in Finland .I hope all are well and had a good night .I went to see another Jag yesterday a four hour round trip but it is not for me .It did have a new MOT and no rust but it just felt wrong . The wife wasn't too happy me wanting another car ! When we got home I messed around with the Jag I have and finally got the rear lights working ,I was informed that it has taken over 4 months of fettling ! Determination from me but the guys helping me deserve a medal .Sod's law I cannot get it MOT'ed because it has no winter tyres !
Have a great day all COYB

I tried to read your post without glasses and looked at the photo.
I was convinced that it was the Lich Ness monster until I found my glasses and read the post lol
Afternoon all , hope everybody is well, a lovely sunny but cold day up here .

Apparently In fantasy fiction, a “ Lich” is a type of undead creature, so this is obviously the nasty cousin of the adorable Nessie, found in all good tourist gift shops throughout Scotland 😉

Hi Folks. How is everybody? I love old gravestones too. Durham Cathedral has loads of them. The church we went to in Liverpool, St Austins, also had graves going back to the 1800s. Fascinating. I find the children's graves very upsetting and you can almost see the demarcation line as to when vaccines and antibiotics were invented which massively reduced the number of child deaths. My Nan and Grandad had 9 children, 6 made it to adulthood. Of the three who died one was a six week old baby. She died shortly after a WW2 bomb dropped in the street where they lived. Apparently all the soot and the shock of the blast killed her. One day while trying to trace my Irish grandparents (Dad's family) birth and marriage records because I intend getting an Irish passport, I ended up going down a rabbit hole and found my Mum's little sister's birth and death record. My Nan and Granddad registered her birth and death on the same day. How sad is that?

Glad you had a good time at the Christmas Event @Gwladysover I'm liking the sound of luxury hot chocolate. Rosie does make me laugh @jazzy . She'd rather tease goats than go for a walk!

I met my friends for our pie chips and mushy peas lunch. Unfortunately apple crumble and custard was also available so we had that too. Be rude not to. I literally still can't move. I had to postpone the weekly shop until tomorrow. The thought of waddling round Lidl and/or Tesco was not filling me with joy! I did go to the gym this morning so there has been some damage control. 🤣

I haven't heard the rumours about a six point deduction suspended for two years but as @peteblue said nothing has been decided, In fact the whole thing is shrouded in mystery. Nobody even knows what we've actually been charged with. It was also good to see England win a cricket match - even if it was against the Netherlands.

I wanted to share this with you. It's the most rubbish photo of the best day ever. Eight years ago today we were in Long Beach. We went to LA for our Silver wedding and went on a whale watching trip. I saw a humpback whale. I genuinely cried when I saw it and because of the off the scale levels of excitement my photos were utter pants!
Have a lovely evening

Nice pic Anj. Although I thought you only liked photos of orcas chasing baby seals. :)

Well blow me down.

After Nikki died, I informed her pension companies, and thought no more about it. (We were not married). One wrote to me to say that if I could show a "financially dependent" relationship, they would assess if I was eligible for any benefits. We had no joint anything, but sent an e mail and some bits and bobs anyrate. Zero expectation.

Letter this afternoon, that I was eligible for £550 a year pension, whoopsee do. Next page, "Or a lump sum of £11500 in lieu". Bit of tax to pay, but had worse news like. Thanks Nik. You were always full of delightful surprises.

Nice windfall mate. How come it took them 2 years though.?

Make sure you spend some of it on something to remind you of Nik. Like I do with the gins. 😀

The 2 years was me mate. It sounds daft, but I didnt feel like doing the claim. Mad innit? I only have to open a vial of her Chanel #5 (yeah, still have one) to be reminded of her, and arsed if I am buying another one of them! Starting (again) to consider selling our cottage. Its too big for one, and although the market here is a bit flat, it has one unique asset that might appeal; a massive plot if demolished.

Afternoon everyone.

Been a lazy day. A bit of gardening, a visit to the gym and watched a bit of cricket.

Enjoying the new Shetland series. Not overly impressed with Ashley Jensen but the scenery is stunning, I have to go.

Anyway Mrs J out at the charity shop so I need to rustle up something for tea. Problem is I need some inspiration. Mexican I think.

Have a lovely evening everyone.
