Exactly, I'd ask for it to be backdated
Crossed my mind, but the commuted lump sum would have been the same 2 years ago.

Why sell just because it's too big for one person unless you can find something just as good for less money. The 2 years was me mate. It sounds daft, but I didnt feel like doing the claim. Mad innit? I only have to open a vial of her Chanel #5 (yeah, still have one) to be reminded of her, and arsed if I am buying another one of them! Starting (again) to consider selling our cottage. Its too big for one, and although the market here is a bit flat, it has one unique asset that might appeal; a massive plot if demolished.
Yes but you would be entitled to interest on the lump sum ?Crossed my mind, but the commuted lump sum would have been the same 2 years ago.
I get what you mean Mark. I had to deal with Cal's pension straight away as she was already receiving it. But tbh dealing with all those things also gave me something to do and help stop me from brooding too much. The 2 years was me mate. It sounds daft, but I didnt feel like doing the claim. Mad innit? If you are happy there ( and from your posts you seem to be ) don't feel under pressure to sell.
Just my opinion , please feel free to completely ignore ! Sorry I can't help it lol
Think you missed the bit where roydo said that it was he who delayed dealing with it for so long, not the other way round Jazz.Yes but you would be entitled to interest on the lump sum ?
I didn't. I'm not sure a delay in claiming would negate a backdating / interest award.Think you missed the bit where roydo said that it was he who delayed dealing with it for so long, not the other way round Jazz.

Congratulations to your sister. My sister was at Buckingham Palace yesterday picking up her MBE from King Charles…

Chanel No 5 was the first ever Xmas present I bought for Cal. It was a Saturday lunch and we met up for a drink in town. I had a Lewis's bag and she said have you been buying my Xmas present. Yes but I'm not telling you what it is. I already know what it is. Chanel No 5. WTF? The shop assistant in Lewis's asked me if I wanted it wrapped and I thought it would save me the job so i said yes please. I didn't know she'd wrapped it in Chanel gift wrapping tied with Chanel ribbon lol
I wouldn't mind but I found out later that she gave it to her mum. Well I didn't know that she was a Coco Mademoiselle girl did I. She always bought her own presents after that and I just gave her the money.lol
I still have all Cal's perfumes too and occasionally spray one, and yeah, it does evoke memories.
How lovely. She's still looking out for you. Do something nice with it.Well blow me down.
After Nikki died, I informed her pension companies, and thought no more about it. (We were not married). One wrote to me to say that if I could show a "financially dependent" relationship, they would assess if I was eligible for any benefits. We had no joint anything, but sent an e mail and some bits and bobs anyrate. Zero expectation.
Letter this afternoon, that I was eligible for £550 a year pension, whoopsee do. Next page, "Or a lump sum of £11500 in lieu". Bit of tax to pay, but had worse news like. Thanks Nik. You were always full of delightful surprises.

I saw the trailers for Shetland I thought I would give a watch from series one as I have never watched it.Afternoon everyone.
Been a lazy day. A bit of gardening, a visit to the gym and watched a bit of cricket.
Enjoying the new Shetland series. Not overly impressed with Ashley Jensen but the scenery is stunning, I have to go.
Anyway Mrs J out at the charity shop so I need to rustle up something for tea. Problem is I need some inspiration. Mexican I think.
Have a lovely evening everyone.
