Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning all n this wonderful cloudy day here .We have a fair chance of rain today yippee .I hope all are well and had a good night .Following on with a fine day .
I have been thinking about England and I seem to remember they were not playing well when we won the World cup but they just finished stronger ,it would be nice if they won it just for the England fans ,I was surprised when a lad I met who lived in London told me there are England only fans ,no league team affections just the national team . Have a great day all COYB

It’s a strange concept but one I have also seen in GAA where some support the county team but don’t have a club. I always think fans like that miss out not only on seeing a young player develop but also on the rollercoaster that is emotional attachment to a club.

I will be in Dublin for the final and I imagine it will resemble a Spanish outpost.

I grew up half way between Kilmacud Crokes and Cuala, but never joined a Club. My parish club would be Geraldines - never contenders for anything.

So today I cheer for Crokes and Cuala and if they play each other just let the best team win.

In Kilkenny, our daughter played under age for O Loughlin Gaels and has three county medals - Camogie naturally.

They are our parish club. Huge rivalry with the other two city clubs James Stephens (the Village) and Dicksboro, but especially against the Village.

Two brothers Living next door played for OLG and have county winners medals.

I will always be a Dub though despite 34 of my 59 years being in this lovely county.

Hi everybody. Happy Friday. It's the Durham Miners' Gala tomorrow so I'm going to do overtime and then go into Durham and listen to the speeches. There are speakers from the FBU, Unison, NEU and ASLEF. Sadly no RMT speakers - who are my favourite union, apart from PCS of course, and nobody gets close to the late Bob Crow for delivering a proper old fashioned tub thumping speech. There might also be a few beers consumed. This of course entirely depends on the weather. I'm not going if it's raining. I've done my bit standing out in the pouring rain. 😊
I've also booked to go and see an open air ( well in a very large tent) performance of As You Like It on the green in front of Durham Cathedral. It will be a stunning setting and is part of the Durham Fringe Festival. That's on 24th July. My friend's daughter is desperately trying to make it as an actress and she has a part in it. I'm not really a huge fan of Shakespeare but it will be something different.
@Terrarian I've just been reading that ex Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg has been filling in for his Dad, Max on some of Bruce Springsteen's European dates.

Have a nice evening everybody x
