Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning guys, it's a chilly one again.

Much better feeling after a win isn't it, I couldn't watch the game properly, I couldn't get a functioning stream even on iptv.

Not doing much this weekend so I thought I would give a new band a try, not a new band just new to me, they're a British band going since 2016. I have heard of them but never listened as for some reason i was under the impression they were a very heavy black metal band and I couldn't have been more wrong.

They're very different and some songs do have metal components but I wouldn't call them a metal band by any stretch, I was just going off imagery, the way they look and the fact we don't know their names, just 1 - 4 they're called, the singer goes by Vessel.

Anyway Sleep Token they are called and I couldn't recommend them highly enough, really chilled, i think this is the latest release but I don't know as only heard them yesterday.

Thanks for all the good wishes guys. It's been a weird old week I have to say.

After an inauspicious start to my trip up to Liverpool (somebody rammed into the back of my neighbour's car on the way to the airport) I had a lovely meal at Chaba Chaba with my friends on Thursday night. They were away in Ireland when I was up a few weeks ago. Friday was funeral day and it was very nice. Had a bit of a jolt when I picked up the service sheet as the picture on the front cover was the two of them standing outside The Queens Head in Hawkshead. That was where Cal and I got engaged on her 30th birthday, so that kicked me off before we'd even started. Apart from the song that shan't be named being played, it was quite a nice service conducted by a celebrant, which I always find more relaxed and informal. The reception was at Heath Hall where I haven't been since Cal's funeral. Jolt number 2. I was expecting that one though so it wasn't really a jolt. :) Anyway, I outlasted everybody else as usual. Just me and my closest sister and her son and daughter there until about 10pm. Things had gotten a little strange between us (sis and me) for some reason I can't fathom but it's all good and back to normal now.

The least said about the journey home the better. It isn't something I want to experience too often but with the number of trips I'm taking at the moment I feel as though I'm abusing my neighbour's hospitality with all the airport transfers. It's like an 80 mile 2 hour round trip each time. I'll treat them to a nice lunch out before my next Liverpool visit, and a home cooked curry on my return. That should give me some brownie points for a while. Despite all journey's and transfers being on time, by the time I treated myself to a much needed curry in Falmouth, it was pretty much 10pm by the time I arrived home and I'd been out since 8am. So a long day. At least Everton put a smile on my face for a change.

Hope all is good with everybody. I haven't caught up with the thread properly for a couple of weeks so apologies if I've missed anything.

One of the nicest things of being retired is lying in bed on a morning like this listening to the rain pelting down and knowing you don’t have to get out of bed. Not for me this morning however as our alarm is going off in 2 minutes and then off to the garage to bring my husband back as he needs to drop his car off at 8.
Spirit of the blues has just blasted out ..

Morning all, another glorious morning here - only kidding, it’s wet and windy, been raining most of the night. One of the driest areas of the country we have had over 4 inches of rain this month. Not sure what we’ll be doing today after getting the grandkids off to school sitting watching the rain I expect. At least we don’t have to venture out if we don’t want - one of the perks of being retired along with creaking joints.
Have a good day all.💙

Well a shock for me today ,I have icebugs boots with studs under for the winter but I don't like going to the shops and grating the studs on tile/marble floors so I decided to splash out for boots ,my god how shoes have gone up in price 239 euros , I think when he saw me cry he reduced them by twenty and gave us three pair of high performance socks ( what !!! ) I say us he gave two to me and one to the wife for persuading me to part with that much .

Well worth it blue if they meet your needs and you use them 🙂. I must admit that over the past four years I have bought on average 2 pairs of running shoes for each pair of ordinary shoes/ boots. I could wax lyrical about the need for “ carbon plated super shoes” for running marathons or best pair for “ ordinary “ training runs . I’m coming up to 1000 miles running this year , I’ve probably done 1/10th of that in ordinary shoes, and some of that will be in comfy ex running trainers. I naturally keep the cost of my running shoes away from Mrs bl 😉

Can you play right back mate?

On the issue of keeping cost away from she who must be obeyed ( I think it was Rumpole that got me interested in law !) I went to a record fair in Southport yesterday and the cost of some of the vinyl was obscene - £150 for Sgt Pepper ? No I'll pass on that thanks. Did however buy a Kate Bush double album and a couple of original 70s Steely Dan but made sure that I paid cash so that it doesn't show up on the mobile banking!

Anyway , just back from the gym and the lanes around here are already flooded with the forecast for the same heavy rain until about 4 am tomorrow. Fortunately we then get a 3 day respite.

Much needed win for Everton at the weekend to lift the spirits.

Well done @Barnfred 55 for coping with another very difficult period.

So, stay dry everyone. I just have admonish a few players for breaches of League table tennis rules and then it's just me and Kate with Mrs J down the rescue.

Try and have a lovely day.

Good evening all.Rainy and cold today. It's on days like these that working from home is the best. The short commute from bedroom to office aka spare bedroom takes about 30 seconds. Much better than a 35 minute drive along partly flooded B roads.
Not much to tell you about today. Very happy with the result. Hopefully it will be the start of a good run.

We are on a severe weather warning with the risk of flooding very high.

Fortunately we are about 10 feet above the level of the river but other properties locally not so lucky.
I just got a news alert about Merseyside being on a flood alert. I didn’t realise it was as bad in England at all until I saw that.

Thank God your home is out of harms way.
