Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

There are lots of things but I don't mention them ,well painting for a start not the house type the easel .

My wife was a good artist, one of my son’s has a fine arts degree and ran our Art Gallery and Picture Framing business with my wife ( before Alzheimer’s got to her, so he now runs it on his own) and my daughter and granddaughter are both talented and creative artists. My wife’s uncles were all talented artists and her cousin taught Art at university. It seems to run in her family. Either it’s for you or it’s not I suppose……

Good morning all on this white dawn here .
I hope all are well after a good kipand go on to have a warm and cosy day . We are expecting a blizzard and have been advised to put things safe in the garden or they will be thrown about ! This usually means trees will fall and the electricity could be cut off .
I managed to sort the problem on my TV ,it has two HDMI arc ports not working but I still have everything running .Now to speak to Google to see if it can be sorted or is a TV next on the shopping list .
Have a great day all COYB

My brothers are both very good artists, one does portrait miniatures professionally and the other is a spare time artist. My Dad loved to sketch on the rare occasions he had any spare time. I’d love to be able to paint but the artistic gene passed me by.

As me my eldest son and daughter both draw very well ,they see it differently than us .When I watched my son he started his sketch in the weirdest place but ended up with something I could never do . Who does the miniature painter paint for ? I love the detail they get in such a small painting .

Morning all,

Very cold but no additional snow today.

Gym , leaf collection and an eye test today and then table tennis match tonight.

Apart from that it's a quiet day .

Have a lovely day everyone.
I took photos a few years ago of all the different leaves we had in the garden ,it must have been calm weather as they stayed under their own trees .

I detest November because of leaf collection it's the bain of my life .

We used to collect all the leaves and compost them into leaf mould which is wonderful for the garden.

However during lockdown and whilst on a gardening forum I got a tip to simply blow all the leaves into the border and let the worms do the work.

It's worked well in enriching the soil .

I still wonder how it works so well because in one border the leaf pile is about 3ft high like a snowdrift.

When you hear in mind that we have planted over 120 trees and already had about 25 very mature oak , beech and sycamore when we moved in 30 years ago and that we are surrounded by mature trees from our neighbours and you can understand the scale of the problem.

He does commissions, here’s one he exhibited in the past, the image is online so I’m not invading anyone’s privacy by sharing.

On a gardening related note, what’s the best way to remove mushrooms from a lawn? I spotted a little patch of them that seemingly pop up overnight!

I read an article that basically said leave the leaves where they fall. The provide nutrients to the lawn/soil. I have a leaf blower/hoover and have not used it for ten years. My gardener started to rake leaves up and I told him it was a waste of time as there would be a similar amount the very next day and mentioned what I had read. It’s your choice of course but I’d just leave them alone……..
