Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all, bright and chilly start here. Feeling a bit smug as I have my Christmas present shopping finished. Although I’d rather not I ordered most of it online as Peterborough isn’t the best for shopping, the city centre is mostly eateries and coffee shops and the shopping centre Queensgate, hasn’t been the same John Lewis, M&S and other big names closed. I bought my friend’s grandsons something from the Manure/Man City official store which really hurt, thank goodness the other one didn’t want football merch I’m not sure I could have brought myself to order anything RS.
Have a good day, all💙

Afternoon everyone ,

Dry but a very cold wind today.

Like @Gwladysover , I've done all my Christamas shopping - yeah 25% off all wine at Tesco so I pushed the boat out lol.

Off to the Cricket Club Xmas quiz tonight.

I must remember that my knowledge / memory reduces with the amout of beer that I drink.

Weekend upon us again and Everton getting battered at United and the RS winning the title on Sunday is sure to take the gloss off it.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Prince put it best ..."act your age not your shoe size " 😉.

Honestly where do you get these new bands from and why don't you listen to proper music anymore?
Jazzy, just admit it, you're a music snob.

The Lambrini Girls are a proper punk band and the only difference between them and the bands that were doing the same thing nearly 50 years ago is that they're two young women and not a group of shaven thugs. And the music is actually better than a lot of the punk bands that were around then.

The TLDP cover I posted was probably Sinead O'Connor's biggest hit from the 80s. She's widely regarded as one of the best female vocalists ever and whilst I like Mandinka I always thought that her voice was too high for the song. Musically the TLDP cover is much better IMO. The guitar work is sublime. Proper music.:) The other cover with the poppets was just a joke post.

I probably listen to around 6 hours of music every day. I have my CDs and Ipod for the old stuff and generally use Spotify and YouTube to listen to new stuff, and probably split it around 50/50. I had a Pink Floyd morning today before nipping into Falmouth. Dark Side of the Moon and Wish you were Here. A few days ago I listened to Yessongs, the triple live album. So I do still listen to the old stuff regularly. And the Ipod comes on whenever I cook and it's usually a 70s, 80s or 90s playlist.

If you put me on the spot I'd definitely say the older stuff is better, but that doesn't mean the new stuff is poor quality. Far from it. If I put my mind to it I could probably name around 50 albums that have been released this year that I've enjoyed.

You are partially right Fred.

I'm not sure that I'd go so far as to say I was a musical snob but I am lazy at exploring new bands / genres and definately prefer music that I am comfortable and familiar with.

Undoutedly my taste in music has changed / mellowed as I get older.

Back in the day I loved punk but I just couldn't be arsed listening to it now.

I much prefer melodic stuff , I even gone off some prog rock that I used to like.
