Jazzy, just admit it, you're a music snob.
The Lambrini Girls are a proper punk band and the only difference between them and the bands that were doing the same thing nearly 50 years ago is that they're two young women and not a group of shaven thugs. And the music is actually better than a lot of the punk bands that were around then.
The TLDP cover I posted was probably Sinead O'Connor's biggest hit from the 80s. She's widely regarded as one of the best female vocalists ever and whilst I like Mandinka I always thought that her voice was too high for the song. Musically the TLDP cover is much better IMO. The guitar work is sublime. Proper music.
The other cover with the poppets was just a joke post.
I probably listen to around 6 hours of music every day. I have my CDs and Ipod for the old stuff and generally use Spotify and YouTube to listen to new stuff, and probably split it around 50/50. I had a Pink Floyd morning today before nipping into Falmouth. Dark Side of the Moon and Wish you were Here. A few days ago I listened to Yessongs, the triple live album. So I do still listen to the old stuff regularly. And the Ipod comes on whenever I cook and it's usually a 70s, 80s or 90s playlist.
If you put me on the spot I'd definitely say the older stuff is better, but that doesn't mean the new stuff is poor quality. Far from it. If I put my mind to it I could probably name around 50 albums that have been released this year that I've enjoyed.
