Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Thanks guys, I gave this some serious thought overnight. Anyway today they had put her in a different ward and the new physio people were really pushing for a care plan, to be put in place immediately as you all suggested.Anyway, they are going to arrange for a bed to be installed downstairs and for a carer to call in each morning for washing etc which will keep her ‘in the system’. We agreed it would be quicker if I arranged the installation and fitting of suitable handrails.

See, I do take note of comments in here…..
That’s good news mate and the right choice IMO, and who said the internet doesn’t influence folk, nice one Pete

So nice that you are both being helped and that you have taken the initiative too get the ball rolling at home ,we all know it is hard to loosen the reins as you want to make sure all is the best for Kay but the best for you both is help .We are so happy for the breakthrough and the beneifts it will bring in your lives .Just pretend it is a bungalow ,it is very common to have a bed downstairs .o_O

Good morning all it is still dark but -10° so hopefully a clear sky with brilliant sunshine .I hope all slept well and have a fine day today . I am still familiarising myself with the newer computer .It is strange having a much later OS but still doing the same things -emails ,posting on here ,googling and bits the difference is just a little faster aand a slightly different home page .It shows how little I actually need in terms of computing power .Also I have yet to get the cable to enable me to instal all my gubbins that I haven't needed at all !
Have a great day all COYB

It’s surprising how much I “ don’t do now“ on computers compared to 12 years ago say. Mostly everything I do is on my iPad and I get around or don’t do complex things anymore, but 95% I manage ok.

It was the wife's birthday yesterday , we don't buy presents .I found a Santa's helper in a shop and sneaked it in to the garage .A couple of days before I said that I had a feeling someone would visit on her birthday .Early yesterday whilst still in bed I asked "Did you hear footsteps outside ?" then I offered to go to check ,after bringing it in from outside I said that there was no one there .She had a nice surprise as she still loves Christmas so much to welcome Alfie .Yes we are a bit childish but it stops us getting old .

Well the NHS bed arrives tomorrow morning. They tried to deliver it today but of course I was already at the hospital and my son in work. My wife looks pretty well back to her normal state, the mucus cough has gone, so now it’s about getting her mobile again. The nurse said they still haven’t a start date for an outside carer, but I said don’t worry about that as I’ve been doing it so far anyway and I don’t want anything holding up or getting in the way of her release from hospital. It was lovely today as the physiotherapist was with me while I walked with Kay up and down the ward. She then said to come and sit in two seats she had arranged and four nurses stood in front of us and played the guitar and sang Christmas Carols especially for my wife who was mouthing the words. Patients and staff from the ward all started to turn up and video it. It was beautiful……..

Isn’t is amazing how the smallest of gestures can have such a profound impact. Well done those nurses, a little bit of kindness goes a long way.

Care in hospital is not always about treatment. A lovely memory to cherish 💙
