A woman in Limavady is credited with 'collecting' the tune from a musician she heard. Danny Boy was written to another tune then put to the Londonderry Air later.Danny Boy is associated with the north west particularly Derry. There must be some other reason. Must do some googling

The fella that wrote the lyrics was indeed at Bath at the time (according to Wikipedia) ?A woman in Limavady is credited with 'collecting' the tune from a musician she heard. Danny Boy was written to another tune then put to the Londonderry Air later.

Can't find a reason for the names but found Black Nore Lighthouse! The only vague connection I can think of is that the bloke wrote Danny Boy lived here. But he also wrote some of the well known WW1 songs as well. (Pack up your troubles for example).
Fancy not knowing that !Al dente it would stick to the door as it's passing under.

Congrats to Finland, that’s a great accomplishment.
Colombia had 3 competitors at the Olympics, we didn’t win any medals but one of the nicest sportsmanship moments happened during the cross country skiing race when Finnish cross-country skier Iivo Niskanen after winning the race he waited for the last skier on the race before leaving the track. This skier was Colombian Carlos Quintana and he was super touched with Niskanen’s gesture.
I know St Canice went to Scotland where he is known as Kenny. Cill Channaigh or Kilkenny means Canice's Church in Irish. I never heard of him going to your neck of the woods. Really interesting, and I will do some more investigation.Thats about 100 yards from my childhood home, and me Mum still lives there. Ironically, on the said, Nore Road.
And Nore Road is an ancient one, not part of a new estate or sommet. Its been there literally for ages.
