Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

No No I wasn't asking for any apologies I was being selfish as I love to visit this thread and I love the respect Karl gets .For me it is a shining light in the world around us .
Everyone has the right to share their views and I feel that as much as this thread ,just as you say the attitude can change and that is what I am afraid of ,no matter what the subject .Thank you for seeing my view.
I was reading an article on Finnish power today Blue. I didn't realise that you are ad dependant as Germany on Russian gas.

Good morning, friends.

I officially signed my papers for the new job yesterday afternoon. I’m starting much sooner than I expected, HR wants me to begin training March 1st. But for the month of March, I’m going to be doing my current job in the mornings and training for my new position in the afternoons. I feel so much better this is how the transition is going to happen, because I didn’t want to leave my current department short handed. What’s best is that I’ll start getting paid and benefits right away. My daughter had a meltdown yesterday because she is afraid that now that I’ll be working full time that she is never going to see me or her dad. I had to reassure her that we are both going to continue being there for her, even if our daily schedules look a bit different. She is probably the one who is go to feel this change the most as she has been used to me being here for her and a full-time mom for the past 11 years. But I really needed this career change in my life and I know I can make our schedules work and she is still is going to get the love, attention and all her needs met. Motherhood is certainly a balancing art.

@anjelikaferrett this quote made me think of you and me. I hope your daughter’s quarter life crisis improves, but I can understand her frustration. After dating her boyfriend for that long it seems about time that she would have met his family. And seeing her friends starting to make a life with their own partners can create a fear that she is not keeping up with them and the plans they had set for themselves when it comes to having a family and kids.

@jazzy how did the ping-pong match go?

I hope the wind situation has improved for everyone that has been affected.

Have a lovely rest of the day, everyone!
That is so true Sassy. She started going out with him peak pandemic so they only ever met up outdoors and just the two of them. He lives with his elderly Granddad so even when the restrictions eased a bit they were both very careful because of him. He would never come into our house and Charlotte (daughter) did not go into his. which I completely understand and respect. However we have now met him a few times, he came out with us for Mr F's birthday in November and when my son brought his girlfriend to meet us he also came to a family meal. He is really nice and I can tell he adores Charlotte - who is a force of nature! I'm wondering if, having had one failed relationship, he's a bit scared of committing to anything yet - even just a little bit more.

They are cat sitting for one of Charlotte's friends on Sunday night so I think she is going to try and talk to him. All she wants is to feel like their relationship is acknowledged.

Hi everybody. Hope you are having a good day. I've just filled my car up with diesel for the weekend trip to Liverpool - we are definitely going this weekend, storms or no storms! £84. That is just outrageous. I've never spent so much money on fuel in one go ever. Made even worse when you look at the profits the likes of BP and Shell have just declared. I'm feeling very ( even more) anti- establishment today. They are playing us for fools. And as for making the Queen do light duties when she's got COVID. Regardless of your stance on the monarchy, she's 95 years old. Let her stay in bed and watch horse-racing.

Anyway in other news feeling quite sorry for Gbamin. I hope his move works out for him. The poor lad has had a nightmare while he's been with us. It must be soul-destroying to have so many injuries. I read DCL's interview saying how horrible he felt when he re-injured himself. Imagine if that had gone on for two years like Gbamin.

@Sassy Colombian the transition from old to new job sounds like it should be very smooth. I'm excited for you. I can understand how your daughter feels too - it will be a big change for her. Love the cat @Barnfred 55 he does look extremely pleased with himself - wonder what he had been up to?

I've just been tagged in another thread about Mike and Accie's chippy in Garston. Proper blast from the past. The Scouse pies they sold were to die for! It also set me to thinking about my first Saturday job at Bennys Cake shop, on Garston Old Road. £3 a day I got paid. I was minted. Mr Benny, the Polish owner was a fanatical Evertonian and a very volatile character. I usually saw him as I arrived for work - he would be finishing the night shift with the other bakers who had been making cakes and bread all night. he would go home, go to bed then if Everton were at home go to the match. he would always come back to shop after the match just before we closed. If Everton had lost, the sacks of flour would get booted all round the bakery accompanied by Polish cussing! If however Everton won, he would give us all the left over cakes to take home. Happy days!

Ouch looks nasty
It is starting to look a bit better. I still can’t believe how badly I hit my head this morning, thankfully I have a hard head.

Yes pretty straightforward win thanks Sassy.
Things seem to be moving quickly on the Job front. Enjoy.

Straight forward win sounds impressive!

They are indeed moving much quickly than I thought but I’m super excited about it. For the month of March I am going back o continue working from home during the mornings and then go to the office in the afternoons so I will be a nice transition.

It is scary times. I definitely don’t want to get as all start it in a negative topic on this thread, but I’m very concerned about this invasion of Ukraine and the consequences that would have for a Europe and the rest of the world :(

It makes sense that given everything we have gone through with Covid that meeting families and having those sort of interactions had to stop for a while. But as things have return to normal then I’m sure Charlotte also wants to move on to having those sorts of connections with his love ones. The good thing is that you have met him and your have a good impression of him and his feelings towards her. Mum’s instincts know well if a man is being honest about their feelings or not. So hopefully it is just that, that given his previous relationship experiences he is just taking things slower but is definitely committed to Charlotte. So her strategy to talk to him this weekend seems like the right approach and hopefully he will be able to give her the reassurances she needs to feel better about where their relationship is heading.

Petrol and diesel prices are going over the roof here in the US. Since a year ago the prices are almost a dollar higher. Just like you Im so tired of the establishments and greedy corporations. Some of them are taking advantage of inflation to raise their prices even though they are still making record profits. My daughter loves Starbucks, because her friends go there because my hubby and I are not coffee drinkers. But I told her we won’t be taking her there anymore because we won’t be supporting greedy corporations and instead we will be going to a local coffee house. After reading that Starbucks had record profits last year enough to give their CEO a $20 million bonuses but still paying very little to their employees and raising prices there is no way I want my money or business going to them.

Love it. After the cake shop I got a job in Littlewoods in town, I got £5.25 for a Saturday but during the summer we got loads of extra days to cover holidays - the Saturday staff were all either at school or students so we were off anyway. I remember I earned about £30 one week. Never been as well off before or since. Of course I was only 16 so had yet to discover men and booze so didn't really have a lot to spend it on! Not sure if you remember the painters who used to sell the work on the railings at BlueCoat Chambers behind Littlewoods. I did buy a painting from one of them for £4. I can see it on my wall from where I'm sitting now. I'm still waiting for him to be discovered! ? ?
