Would have lost money on that,, i thought they signed JT after Keane left.

Keane's always been very good in a low block, under Silva with Zouma and under Carlo, no issue if that how we are going to set up - horses for courses.

Some key decisions have to be made at centre back though in the summer, we have far to many and spending far to much on them - 7 - if you include Brantwaite, though Mina and Coady?? could be on their way. When you think we are short at of full backs, wide forwards and at 9, we have to balance the squad better.

Tarkowski has to stay obviously. I think we have a lot of players who we think can do a job at CB but really aren't and never will be PL class there and will have to go.

No idea who we bring in.

We need to decide on four in my opinion, JT, Keane (Dyche favorite) will stay in my opinion. The rest;

Mina - will go, be hugely enabling to get his 120k of the wage bill, hes costing us about 12 mill a season.

Godfrey - a decision to be made - there will be a market for him - i believe Howe is a huge fan - a player i like, had a horrible run of injuries - but played his way into England in his only fit season with us, can cover full back. Decision needs to be made. Headroom in my opinion.

Coady - Stick or twist - 5 mill cost - he will be on a big wage, hitting 30 +. Topped out at this level.

Holgate - costs very little in ammortisation - can cover full back - market for him maybe in the championship. Topped out at this level.

Braintwaite - is he ready for a step up - there will be market for him no doubt. Headroom for improvement in my opinion.

So we loose two from 4, its just choosing your poison.

I think Brainthwaite is a certainty to come back next season. Dyche will love him and Tarks are a combination. Coady will be back at Wolves.
Dyche strikes me as the last manager in the world who'd want a ~20 year old kid at center back. Plus if we get relegated, JB will be one of few players we'd get top whack for and my have to/want to be sold.

I like Mina but agree that he’ll go, so based on JT and Keane being the managers preferred partnership and Godfrey and Braithwaite having the most potential Holgate doesn’t make the cut.

Tend to agree mate, personally it would be JT, Keane, Branthwaite and Godfrey - we might however need some cash and there is likely to be a market for Godfrey and Branthwaite.

Hopefully Branthwaite will have improved while on loan and we may not have to bring in a new CB. Holgate looked ok till he got injured so we do still have options there.

Coady had about a decade at Liverpool, was picked for youth internationals, and has played for England more recently than Keane so clearly he must have “class” as well.

I didn't mention Coady. I simply argued that it's daft to say Keane didn't have any class.

Assuming we stay in the PL none apart from Tarkowski are adequate. Does he retain Keane because he knows him? Maybe. Branthwaite is a decision to make too. The Dutch league isn't a great indicator on PL adequacy.

I haven't been paying attention to possible relegation candidates should they take the drop. Could Zouma come back here, for example?

It's one of those areas that looks ok but in reality needs a lot of work on. Branthwaite still has a question mark hanging over him and we might see the club take the cash from his sale and invest elsewhere.

I think Coady goes back to Wolves tbh.

Holgate - if there was a CB in him we;'d have seen it by now.

Godfrey - I'd never trust him in the middle of a defence in the PL. Just not up to it.

Dyche clearly prefers consistency over Mina who might be in then out injured again. His philosophy is interesting. Doesn't necessarily play the strongest team. More a look at the long term small gains.
