YouGov this afternoon showing that 77% of UK people would not be prepared to shelter refugees themselves.
Maybe they are scared, or struggle to live with so many bills and cant afford to feed extra

Wouldn't it be scary for families to take strangers in their houses.
ha ha. do I get an award? you want to argue with it instead. numbers applying are not going up so what is illogical. and a system dealing with people fleeing crises should be set up should be set up to deal with crises don't you thinkThat is honestly the most illogical post I've ever read on GoT.
There can be ways to make it work, though I'd imagine you might need to be a certain phase of life to make it happen definitely not for everyone. My wife and her family fled Poland in the 80s and first ended up in a refugee camp in Germany which was pretty grim. Later on, they lived in a house of a German man along with a Russian family who were also refugees. He was compensated considerably by the German government and it ended up being a pretty good result for all involved. One thing that made things a bit more comfortable was that Guenther only took one shower/bath a week, so everyone knew that at about 5 or 6pm on Saturday the bathtub was all his.Maybe they are scared, or struggle to live with so many bills and cant afford to feed extra
Could you provide a for instance? I'm a bit confused here

I expect the percentage would be higher if it was a real and not a survey.
its genius that film. .. think its 'to get by in this world you have to either be oh so clever or oh so nice. well I've tried clever and I recommend nice'. Problem with this country is that nowadays so many people are not tough enough to be niceFor those around you or for yourself, reminds me of james srewart line in the movie 'harvey', 'you can either be very clever or very nice, i prefer nice', or something like that
Imagine the fummme if we all had to take a family on!
Especially since many have been welding weapons in Calais for example, threatening the lorry drivers. Most are also young men.
Bob on.
It's amazing isn't it that the populace of the 6th richest country in the world are arguing about whether we can afford more people living here. This is all tied in to the same financial con that we're all enduring. Austerity for all. Blame the poor, blame the sick, blame the immigrants and whilst you're doing that we'll siphon off a little bit more.
if someone had shot Hitler etc.. these hyphothetical arguments are great but I think you will find that generally in history evil actions lead to further evil. call being heartless common sense if you want. call people showing compassion brainless if you want, but it is turning our back on this ruthless behaviour that has always moved civilisation forward and people have always done it against a background of sneeringWell for one, if Caesar hadn't spared Brutus after Pharsalus then he would not have found himself being stabbed to death by him a couple of years afterwards.
Or if the Tlaxcalans hadn't helped Cortes after the disaster on the bridges, and instead butchered the wounded and exhausted Spaniards on the spot, then their (and the rest of native mesoamerican) culture might still exist now and loads of them wouldnt have been enslaved, worked to death and generally abused.
Young African men on the whole and Muslim.
