Migrant Crisis

The same slightly different insight that resulted in the troubles, IRA bombings, the massacres dating back centuries?

If anything mate, Christianity has a history of more perspective and violence than Islam, but don't let that get in your way.

It does not and I do not dwell in the past but look at the present and the future. We can do some thing about that but not about the past.

Mate I'm not talking about whether we should 'dwell on the past', I'm merely responding to the point you raised in which you claimed it was 'bollocks' to say migrants with religious beliefs have historically been demonised in this country.

Anyway, what do you propose we do about the present situation?

Not entirely sure why this is in any way relevant to this thread, despite being an interesting topic in its own right.

Well, my point was that the same people "advising caution" or "fretting about the blight on our society," should we "let them in," would have made exactly the same small-minded noises in the 1930s. I can just see Cameron now saying "Letting Jews into Britain isn't going to solve the problem. Talking the Nazis into laying off a bit is how we can help the Jews."

It's easy to forget how uncharitable we were towards the Jewish people in the 1930s. The consequences of that lack of charity, however, are somewhat less forgettable.

Did I mention historically and demonised, I think not.

Quite frankly, we should say no and stop being swayed by awful pictures. The Eu had messed the whole thing up with no border controls following a pipe dream of France and Germany of having a federal state. If there had still been those controls the continent would not have been overwhelmed by the current numbers and the numbers to come.

My friend, this is way beyond immigration policy. This is a full-blown humanitarian crisis and those people need our help.

Whatever happens, however many dark-skinned people are welcomed in in the name of common decency, Britain will survive it. But we really need to help some human beings right now.

And now the Visegrad states Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia have realised in the EU migration is a Two way street they are crying foul.
What a surprise! Happy to reap the rewards but now they are required to contribute its not on.

Saw a newsclip tonight of Cameron, at his nauseating worst even by his own desperate standards. On Wed, he wanted no refugees no matter what, wouldn't bend, but now a couple of days on has realised that the wind is blowing against him on this. So what we now get is "as a father I couldn't help be moved by the appalling sight of that tragic boy......".

What a sickening way of explaining his change of policy and trying to save face. Despicable coward.

"dark skinned people" stop trying to frame the debate as a race issue.

Yeah it is a humanitarian crisis. Encouraging more to come will end in more dying. And it isn't sustainable for the EU to take millions.

Wouldn't be the first time he's used a dead child as justification for something.
