Were there ever any two more talented than Doc and Strawberry to wear the Mets' uniform?

Also, those Mets could do some lemo.
Hernandez and Backman loved the coca too. There was a really documentary on Doc and Straw that tracked their lives and told the stories through a Shakespearean lens. You can find it on YouTube. It's really good.
Their natural talent was absurd...only ones to rival them are Seaver and possibly Piazza.

Saw this guy in AAA when I was a mere lad... He was pretty talented.

This guy, too... People forget he started as a Met. Yep, same number. I noticed, too.

I definitely shouldn't short those two. So is that it? As far as "best Mets" are concerned, Hernandez and Carter get good shouts, but for most talented I'd guess it's Seaver and Ryan (although briefly), Gooden and Strawberry, then Piazza and Pedro?

I always liked the story on Kevin Elster. You know you've lost the clubhouse when that's happening.

Supposedly, it was blisters that caused the Mets to trade Nolan Ryan. I know my father mentioning that he didn't mind losing Ryan but was absolutely gutted when Seaver was traded. One of the worst all-time trades

Maybe for Pedro's first year. Jerry Koosman would also be up there for some fans. Howard Johnson and Edgardo Alfonzo had some really nice years with the Mets. I've been calling Murphy HoJo ffs. Something about him reminds me of Howard Johnson.

I obviously didn't get to watch Ryan in his Angels days, but he was amazing in his late-30s and early 40s as a Ranger. Still throwing hard, still throwing strikes, and reducing his walks. Plus, Robin Ventura.

You don't charge the mound on a [redacted] legend, Robin. If you're not careful, your karma will be condemned to managing the Whitesacks.

Don't! My Uncles are still reeling about that one. Speak to them on the phone. 'We may suck, but we have the future coming, don't get me started on the Seaver business'.
