You say we have spent top 6 cash for the last 2 years.

The top 6 have spent top 6 cash for the last 20 years.

Across the last 5 years, we have spent double what Chelsea have. More than double what Liverpool and Spurs have.

We’ve spent £100m more than Leicester, £100m more than Watford, £80m more than West Ham and £20m more than Wolves.

We’ve spent £40m less than Arsenal across the same period.

Ignore the facts if you want, 5 years is a long time in Football - they have just spent it far better than we have.

Koeman and Walsh wasted a very large chunk of that which unironically made us a worse team so we went 5 steps back behind everyone.

Iwobi has only scored 9 league goals in 87 appearances across the last 3 seasons.

Might be a tad unrealistic to expect him to almost treble his output from last season when he made 35 appearances in a much better side.

But we really shouldn’t be slogging it out with West Ham, Leicester and Wolves for 7th. We really shouldn’t. We’re spending top six cash and have done for two years.

It’s quite rightly raised expectations. 7th should be ours this season. Categorically. Any less is abject failure on Silva’s part. That’s where we are and where we should be.
But they have all spent big money recently.
Our gross spend this year was £107m with net spend after player sales of £35m.
Leicester’s gross spend was £95m with a net of £16m, Wolves was £87m with a net of £84m, and West Ham’s was £71m with a net of £23m.
Leicester are recent PL winners and Wolves finished above us and have spent more net.
Spend is rubbish really, what really matters is how well it’s been spent, and only time will tell.
Right now though, I feel we have done reasonably well!

No we haven't. Chelsea has spent like 600M in the last 3 years alone. Stop making up stuff.

Leicester’s title winning side was gone within 18 months mate. Wolves just got promoted and West Ham have been in a perpetual mess for years - arguably worse than us.

We should not be slogging it out with these for frigging 7th. We should be comfortably 7th and really knocking on the door of the top six - who (top 2 aside) will not be THIS bad for a long time.

I’m absolutely gutted that the club have got you’s thinking this is even remotely acceptable for Everton right now.

You do know that we scored more goals than Super Vardy FC last season even with DCL up top?

Right?

Every single post you make is without sense or reason.

Richarlison and Sigurdsson contributed 26 goals between them - you could argue Richarlison will hit close to his tally again but its a big ask hoping Siggurdsson hits near 15 this year when he's looked hopeless so far.

The CF position is the most important position out there on the pitch and this club continues to overlook it - Arsenals defence is abysmal yet they consistently finish in the top 6 because they have 2 top centre forwards.

Liverpool have consistently chased silverware with top strikers

Leicester won the league with Vardy and Mahrez banging goals in

We were best of the rest not because we have James McCarthy or Deulofeu in the team but because we had Lukaku banging goals in every season which sides around us didnt have.

Everton wont achieve anything until they start taking the Centre Forward position seriously again.

Kone, Niasse, Tosun, DCL all leading the line for us in recent seasons its a shambles.

I wish I were making it up, but yes. Yes, we have.

Even if you expand it back over the last 10 years. We’ve still spent well more than the teams we’re supposedly competing with. We’ve spent almost 3 times what Spurs have over the last 10 years.

There’s only City, Chelsea, United and Arsenal that you could say have massively outspent us over the last 10 years - and only United and City have over the last 5 years really.

We’ve only spent 30m less than Liverpool across 10 years ffs. Just highlights the chronic mismanagement of this club from top to bottom.

Kean is leading the line now. He's the guy. You can bring up old stuff all you want, but what is most important is that the team, not just the CF position, scores goals.

That’s the club over the last 10 years for you though. When Moyes was getting Europe and we we finished above Liverpool two years on the run, instead of pushing on, we just went with what we had.
We see ourselves with a bias, we have no divine right to finish 7th. We may think we are better than Wolves, Leicester but facts tell a different story.
If we are better we will finish above them, if we don’t we clearly are not. No hard luck stories over a season.

Its not the last 5 years tho.

Its the last 3 years.

2 of those 3 years we didnt spend money, we set fire to it.

Ignore the facts if you want.

Nobody will argue that we have spent money badly, but hopefully you will agree that since Brands and Silva have come in we have spent money a LOT better.

Stop looking backwards.

I'm not sure how you get 30M. Liverpool has spent over 500M since Klopp got there and spent big before then.

We’ve spent £30m less than Liverpool across 10 years as per the link I sent you.

But again, back OT, the subject is Moise Kean and I feel bad that he’s got all this undue pressure that the club could have avoided.

But it really shouldn’t lower our expectations for this season. Last season we showed patience because “it’s Marco’s 1st season”. Fine.

This season now the party line excuse is “Kean is young”. More mismanagement doesn’t get this management team another free pass this season, not from me.

So what are you expecting this season?

Ignoring the money spent, do you think that we have a squad good enough to challenge the top 6?

we haven’t won anything since the mid 90’s.
We were getting drawn into the lower reaches under Koeman. We are stabilised now and squad building from relatively poor situation, whilst hamstrung with fails players on big wages.
We will start moving in the right direction now,, but others are spending big as well.

Yes but you're asking alot from him at 19 and abroad to be THE guy this season - realistically he may be THE guy in 2-3 seasons time.

But we needed someone to be THE guy this season as the top 4 never mind top 6 is right up for grabs - outside of City and the RS anyone could get that position.

Had we gone out and got a Haller and had him say get 15-20, Richarlison around 15 and Gylfi around say 10 with Kean off the bench contributing another 7-10 you have a real good chance of doing something.

If Kean can get around 10 this season he's had a good first season of development - the problem is that tally is what the top clubs want from the bench whilst they have a top striker slotting closer to the 17-20 mark.

Its not about losing games its the draws that kill you - Spurs drew very little games last season (and lost quite a bit) but 1 win and 2 losses is the same as 3 draws and sadly we draw alot of games as we dont have a top striker to be the difference - how many times do you see Kane, Auba, Vardy, Jimenez get last minute winners in tight 1-1 affairs - thats what we need as Pickford down the other end is doing his bit.
