In an ideal world, we would have sold Tosun and Niasse to find a second striker. Unfortunately it didn’t happen.
I think they expected DCL to push on.

Thats my concern I have with the club - with Brands coming in I hoped we would get a ruthless streak but we seem compelled to giving garbage more time than what they deserve.

We all knew Tosun wasnt suited for Silva's style yet we gave him last season and didnt bring a CF in.

This season we knew DCL isn't premier league quality yet we've looked to have given him ANOTHER bite of the cherry.

I just wish the club/manager/DOF had some balls and do what is obviously needed to be done in and around the club.

Its why we have no winning mentality.

And you want it all done immediately. It's not possible.

How anyone can say we haven't made progress in the last 15months is beyond me.

What is the point of buying players we don't really want when we're planning for the long term? As Brands has said, it's the right player for the plan or no player.

Right... so you're demanding he does something basically unprecedented and then shift the goalposts. None of them have done it in their first season in a new country, have they?

So your "reasonable" expectation of a player we have bought for his contribution over the next 3 years is that he performs at a level nobody else ever has.

This is why we can't have nice things.

Hey, them’s the expectations of the sole, starting CF in an Everton side with top six ambitions.

I don’t see why we should lower our collective expectations because the club have made the mistake of placing all that pressure on the shoulders of an untested, unproven 19 year old.

You want to get in the top six or seven, as we do, your starting CF needs to clear 15 goals a season in all competitions.

Patience yes. Lowered expectations, no.

FYI if he can’t manage 15 IAC, starting every game in this team, he doesn’t qualify as “a nice thing”.

Even DCL knocked in 8 last season IAC playing from the wing quite a bit and we all widely accept that the manager and the club need to demand much better.

We’ve spent a small fortune bringing him in, I’m looking forward to him making big strides forward this season. If he doesn’t clear 15, then we’ve likely failed in our target to get at least 7th and the responsibility should quite righty be shouldered by Marco Silva and Brands, and one of them should take the fall for it.

I just typed a big response to you but I sense we're not going to agree. So I'll leave it there. Enjoy your afternoon.

Convenient. You enjoy yours too pal.

It's convinient I disagree with you and don't want to spend my afternoon reiterating the same points in slightly different ways?

You have your view, I have mine. I am quite comfortable for us both to hold them, being how conversation isn't a competitive sport and all.

Exactly - not many opportunities to qualify for the Champions League and break the top 6 monopoly and this season like the one where Leicester won the thing has 4 of the top 6 looking vulnerable.

For all the heckles of "its a 10 year project" from the Bourgeoisie the top 6 wont be vulernable forever - Utd at some point will get their act together, Chelsea once the transfer ban is up will buy their way out of trouble and Arsenal and Spurs have a squad of quality.

Failure to take our opportunity this season will come back to the failures in the TW - not signing a ready striker and a back up CB primarily the problems we will face this season imo.

Kean does not need 15 goals for us to get 7th.

Looking at the top six and previous years, we’ll likely need to clear 60 goals to look like breaking the top six. If Kean can’t make at least 10 in the league, I fail to see where we’re getting 50+ goals from.

weve currently got 2 strikers in Niasse and Tosun not fir for the club or league amd 2 prospects who *might* come good in 3 years time..

we will not be challenging any top 4 / 6

we will be fighting for 7/8/9 with liecester and west ham

people need to re-assess where they think we will finish this year

we are also an injury to a CB away from playing kids..

It will be something like this....

Premiership goals....

Richarlison 13
Iwobi 8
Siggurdsson 8
DCL 7
Kean. 4
Bernard 4
Walcott 4
Digne 4
Keane 2
Coleman 2
Mina 2

Its so easy to predict failure.

Very easy indeed to predict a club that has failed for the last 25 years will continue to fail.

I applaud your forward-thinking and positive outlook.

*clap, clap, clap*
