Well, yeh, but Salah hasn't come from Serie A initially, mate. He was at Basel then Chelsea then thrived at Roma. I agree with your point, but traditionally, there's been more players who've struggled from Serie A or, maybe more particularly, Italy as a country. It's just a general rule of thumb, there's evidently exceptions.

As I said, I don't think he will struggle. He's got pace, power and knows where the goal is. But doesn't mean he has to be thrown straight in if we think he's not quite ready. I'd rather wait for him to be fully fit before starting than have him come straight in and struggle.

As a side note I think he will do well here, and I think the fans will be very forgiving/patient with him, because even if he had a bad day but put the effort in, I think he’d offer more than DCL (I don’t think that kid is gonna make it with us, unfortunately).

Tbf I actually tried to think of players who adapted well. Zola, Bergkamp, Desailly, Henry, Vialli & Ravanelli were the ones who came to mind. But I totally concede these guys feel like they were playing a footballing century ago. I guess that Garibaldi (was that his name) did ok at Southampton (that’s stretching it a bit too), but he’s gone now.

Are there even that many players that come from Italy? The only other one I could think of (without the assistance of the internet) was that Aquillani.. so ultimately this was a worthwhile endeavour as I had a little laugh at that one!

Aye, Gabbiadini basically did a Jelavic (though he was a flash in the pan in Serie A too, tbf).

You're spot on in that it's down to individual traits. But just as a league Serie A seems to produce, in general, a type of player that doesn't work in the Prem.

The gap in terms of style has got smaller in recent years - it's just the quality that is lacking. But Kean definitely has the build of a Prem player.

Fair enough.

I think DCL offers plenty in certain games (especially at home v top six). But away he's just not got it - at least not against sides that let us have all the ball on their patch.

He also had a bad injury that season. And it wasn't 19 starts, it was 19 apps - 12 starts (just double checked is all!). In total he played 20 games for Verona, scored six goals.

Look, I'm not saying he can't start. I'm just saying we have to be patient and trust the management to assess him right. I really want to see what he can do but am happy to wait for the right time.

40 appearances in total (21 of them starts) in two seasons. Yep, a great goalscoring ratio, that's not in doubt. But that's really not much at all in two seasons, especially considering he's got to transfer from Serie A (which isn't as slow and defensive as it once was) to the Premier League.

haha. We're both wrong. My number counted being on the bench and not coming on as an appearance (didn't look behind the headline number) and yours doesn't count cup games.

But I'm agreeing with you, no sense rushing him but I really think we'll see him starting games quite soon.

I added in the cup game after - so 20 apps total :)

I get moody if we draw or lose, buzz if we win but 24 hours later I’m over it till the next week, my focus turns to more important matters like my job. Football doesn’t consume my life they way it did when I was a young kid with no pressures

Not going to argue with you. Me , I have been watching since 1961 and rightly or wrongly cannot bear losing points especially to a team like CP, now if it was Man City HHHMMMM.

I am still blazing after the poor result, the game should have been taken to CP and puit them on the rack. But with the team picked no chance, Silva was playing safe. I mean picking Schnieds and DCL over the new boys!!! In his chat talked of not taking chances well what can one expect playing a No 9 who is the most unprolific in the whols PL. Hence for me knobhead.

Tell you what, think how the thousands of fans think who went down to London, In home games where there is 35,000 or so, they are happy if we just manage to draw against a rubbish team.

It’s actually crazy that all our hopes are pinned on this 19 year old kid hitting the ground running.

Brands has well and truly messed up.

It's a risky strategy to have no experience(well experience that isn't Tosun or Niasse). I hope we aren't going to put too much pressure on the kid too soon.

He has barely played a game yet. In fact, hardly any of this summers signings have.

You may be right, but I much prefer my stance in life of looking forward to what joys he, and the others, might bring to L4.

Well and truly messed up. lol
