Regardless of what we want to decide his position was on one of those formation graphics, he has never been asked to play as a winger as he was tonight and beyond that we haven't played with our wide players being anything but wingers in a long time so he shouldn't be put anywhere but center forward. His use tonight was managerial malpractice. Subbing him off was ultimately the right thing to do but he was put in a terrible position to start.

Juve was playing 4-3-3 when he was on the right (rarely), we are 4-2-3-1 team and he struggled, rightly so..

How big a difference is it playing the wide role in the 4231 to playing it in the 433?

He has only ever played in a three or a two, in Italy. It was mental to bring him in as our main source of goals.

In fairness, we tried for Zaha, who I do think will have really been played either central or out wide meaning Rich would have gone up top earlier. But yeh, to lump all the pressure on him was harsh.

He'll come good. I've no doubt. But have we got the manager for it, not sure...

The only explanation, to me at least, is that the plan was always for Calvert-Lewin to lead the line this season.

I hope that Kean can outlast Silva and make an impact here. It'd be a shame to see yet another young player leave without really getting a chance to show something.

Silva is ruining kean with this incompetent man management and I wouldn't be surprised if we barely see him play for the rest of the season. At this point given the way he has been treated, I expect he will leave in the summer with . In the mean time, top priority has to be a starting striker in the January window which will be very difficult and very expensive.

The united fans wondered what they had bought...he kept missing chances and seemed like Brett Angell.

I wonder if hes got Kean learning how to hold the ball up and link play in training...then giving him minutes where he can.

The stats make a good argument but then you can counter that arguement by arguing as to why juventus sold him on the cheap. I think he needs a loan spell away from us maybe in the championship. The lad just doesn't look ready at all to play for us.

The irony is that DCL is very good playing on the right. He has quite a few assists to his name playing there, in fact he's of far more use there than as a number 9. If I can see that, why can't his manager?

Lets not dress it up as something its not. Whether you play wide right or centre, it should not affect your first touch, awareness or make you give the ball away. We are talking basics here and he looks lost.

People forget that Mina was out for most of last season and now looks top notch.

The time for Kean will be towards the end of this season, maybe next season.

You're comparing Silva to Ferguson. This is a ridiculous benefit of the doubt to Silva.
