Like Leicester?
Yes Leicester have bought young players and developed them for longer term success. They jumped to the top a little quicker than I'd have thought but it also looks like they'll throw that away. But guess what? Next season they'll have pretty much everyone back with whatever additions they make to try again. They aren't looking to shift deadwood as a priority.

Do we ever rotate? Almost all of our changes from game to game are enforced by injuries (which is often) or tactical tweaks. We've spent almost the entire second half of the season not tweaking the front two as a tactic so Kean hasn't played. I get what you're saying but thinking about it I feel like reality at Everton is that if you aren't in the starters you're waiting for an injury to get in.
The idea that DCL and Rico Are an unbreakable partnership is a load of rubbish. They’ve had some decent games but we are languishing in the bottom half of the table and have lost count of the dreadful performances this season which have called for a shake up of the team. I mean, any manager could have started all three and changed formation if they wanted to. There are so many viable options to get Kean into this team if he was any good. Treating Rico and DCL like they’re shearer and Sutton, in an era where 4-4-2 is the only formation allowed and the same team plays every week is literally 25 years ago.

I personally don't think you can justify dropping either until maybe the build up to the Wolves game. And while yes other formations exist, Kean showed against Watford he has no real clue out wide. I think you either drop DCL or you don't play Kean.

Now going into Thursday you can easily drop DCL as he is a bit cold at the minute, but I really think before maybe Wolves it would have been very tough to drop him considering in addition to the goals he adds a ton to the team.

I don’t think Leicester bought youth and it developed for them to become a success. I think they found a couple of gems in Kante and mahrez over a couple of windows. Added some steel in Huth. Had an ever improving and late bloomer in vardy. But their biggest asset that year was a team spirit and bond which seemed to carry them through many games. Bit of luck that everything clicked but the personalities of the players in combination with some shrewd buys was the key to their success rather than playing a load of youngsters for years.

Going from Nigel Pearson to Ranieri was a big factor too. Such a change in personality - bit like when we went from Moyes to Martinez - that first season.

Kean was dropped though after he scored? Every team rests players in the premier league. Scoring or not. Why are you sticking with this narrative when you are aware that teams rotate these days. Especially if there is ample back up? I mean Aguero hardly starts these days.

Other teams rotate. Do you honestly see it with Everton? Most of our changes are injuries.

I meant modern day Leicester. 15/16 Leicester was a minor miracle. Should that be our plan? Hope for a miracle. Mahrez and Kante weren't known qualities fwiw. So you can't say do what Leicester did and want to sign Allan for example.

We’ve definitely rotated our centre halves at some point this season. We’ve definitely rotated all of our midfield when it has allowed us to. There was a time when iwobi, Bernard, Walcott and sidibe were all vying for two spots and it was getting changed regularly.

The CBs it has mostly been injury related. Mina has missed games three separate times and Holgate wasn't dropped until he got hurt. To me trying to figure out who doesn't suck on the wings isn't the same as City using Aguero and Jesus interchangeably but if that's what you've got go for it.

Ok, I’ll change my angle. DCL has been absolute dog turd for weeks now and hasn’t scored in 6. Surely now is the time to start him?

It’s depressing that Steve Walsh helped find them and then he comes to Everton and we end up with Bolasie, Klassen, and Sandro.

Oh jeez I didn't think Osimhen got that out of control. What we actually need to do is just figure out who Lille are targeting and sign him.

I like what I see from Kean tbh, but I think we've established that what I'm looking for isn't always the same as what most of you seem to be. Yes he's raw but the skills that matter, the hard stuff, I think he does that well.

what does he do well? You never really go any further with any detail.
